Installing seals in n/t TB,

So i attempted to put new seals into a NT TB that i have and i need to get the shafts machined to accept the bigger seals, does anyone know where i can get this done ASAP.

Also i learned why cheap tools are cheap, so they can be destroyed by DSM throttle bodies.

Thanks

Aaron

Re: Installing seals in n/t TB,

What do you mean, have the shafts machined? I installed DSM TB seals in my 75mm Ford TB and all I had to do was bore out the center sections to fit the seals in. It's a funky size drill bit, but I've got it here if you want to borrow it.

Re: Installing seals in n/t TB,

The seals don't fit in the bore they are supposed to fit in, the seals are 10mm.

Re: Installing seals in n/t TB,

I don't think any shaft machining is needed. It's the bore that may need to be drilled. I was able to cram mine in my stock NT TB. But I am not 100% sure that it is leak free. If you find a good way to do it, let me know as I should prolly do the same.

Re: Installing seals in n/t TB,

Did you destroy the the old seals? Cause you can rebuild them. I dunno if a N/A TB is the same but you can burn the rubber out of the old seal and replace them with o rings. You use the old seal to hold the o rings in. But N/a's probally diffrent.

Re: Installing seals in n/t TB,

NT ones are different. They don't have the metal ring with an O-ring on it.

Re: Installing seals in n/t TB,

I didn't see a metal ring in mine just the o-ring.

Re: Installing seals in n/t TB,

Exactly. Some of the turbo ones use a metal retaining ring that you can reuse with a new o-ring from a parts store. N/T ones don't have that metal ring, they are different then the turbo ones.

Typical tuners thread, questions with no real answers.

Re: Installing seals in n/t TB,

The last post in that thread seems helpful, i am meeting up with kevbo in a few hours hopefully we will figure out if that is true or not.

Re: Installing seals in n/t TB,

I remember reading that thread also. I didn't have any issues with the seal being too long. My issue was more like the holes diameter wasn't wide enough. I had to push real hard, using a socket, to get the seal to go in. And I think some of the rubber may have come off the seal. It was too tight of a fit I think.
