I bought a JDM 4g63 from a buddy of mine today cause it was cheap. %100 complete motor and trans from what I can see. I'm sitting checking it out and notice yellow top injectors and a 16G. Does this mean its from a EVO 3 and is 270 hp with a bit different gear ratios? I didn't think there was anything else made with this stock. If this is a EVO motor/trans I'm very happy as I only paid $440 for all of it. He ordered it about 3 years ago but never touched it, the shell it was going in ended up burning in a garage fire.

This also mke me wonder about the compression ratio. Wasn't it 8.5:1 on JDM engines? IDK on this.

What color is the valve cover? Sounds like it could be a GVR4 RS motor, if it has a red valve cover, yellow injectors and a 16G.

6 bolt or 7 bolt? The Evo3 came with a 7 bolt, and I believe the GVR4 had a 6 bolt.

its more than likly a vr4 motor. any way you look at it you have a damn good find. congrats

if you have pics on it it will help.
I could tell you if it is a evo 1,2,or 3 engine if it is not a galant motor

It's a red top 6-bolt, I notice that the intake tube looks like a usdm VR4. This would still mean a taller first right? I'll upload a picture in the morning.

Also there is no mention of Cyclone on the intake, just says ECI Turbo Intercooled.

Look for part numbers on everything and see what you can find on the intronets.

It's from a 1991 GVR4 RS, it came with 510cc injectors, 16G and 223hp 220ft/lbs o tourque. It has a taller 1st and that's it. $440 bu yeeaaa
