project goped

I got sick of modding my dsm because we all know it's the coolest/fastest thing on the block. So I went out and bought a goped. A buddy of mine had this thing sitting around for a couple years after he busted the recoil. I've decided to keep a very close eye on every little thing I spend on this so I don't get too outa hand like my dsm haha. I bought it for $150 and purchased a new recoil for $25 right away. Since they I've purchased a new T bar after I broke my old one trying to bed it back into shape.

Here's a couple pics of when I bought it. Very dirty I know.

Everything dissasembled and cleaned up a bit.

New stained and varnished deck. Awaiting new griptape.

That's where I'm at now. I've sanded down and repainted a few little parts so they don't rust, but other than that I'm just waiting for a few parts to arrive. This thing is way easier and cheaper than my dsm has or will ever be! haha I love it

So do you plan on using this for anything?

Re: project goped

I'd weld some sort of loop on it so that you can chain it up when/if you are riding around campus. I now want one of these for school... at least when its still nice out.

Yes, getting around on campus.

And I'm thinking about getting a loop or something welded on, but idk if you can weld to this kinda metal :( It's soft alluminum I think.

haha well I'm waiting for my new recoil and pole to come in they I'll be riding it anywhere. These gas prices blow and at 200mpg you can't really complain.

Dude, I LOVE my goped! That looks just like mine! I got a walbro race carb and x-can exhaust for it, it's so fun! I have been calling mine the scooter of death around here for a while now after MattD ended up with a bloody knee while doing jumps outside DB Performance. :P

Bring it to the next dyno day, lets dyno that sucka!

^I really want to haha. I'm not gunna make this ped too quick for now at least. I'll see how she rides, but I might get a different ped and put a race motor on it later on haha. I hear for the money you can spend on diff carbs n stuff, it's actually cheaper to just get a diff motor.
