My car stutters...
Call me a newbie... I just installed my td06 20g, 2g mani with hks wastegate and some 660cc injectors along with some bc 272 cams. i start it up and of course idle is lumpy. the problem happens when i start driving it. it doesn't build boost at all, instead it tries and drops, my entire car jerks around. I've been told this was a boost look but i highly doubt it is.. i checked everything over... could it be i'm just running super rich?

Re: My car stutters...
You have some sort of way to tune the car? Or a chip atleast for the injectors?
|
Re: My car stutters...
nothing... think that's the reason?
|
Re: My car stutters...
You're running 660's and a 20g without any sort of fuel control?
|
Re: My car stutters...
well what is your fuel pressure set at? check all vacuum and boost lines. check your timing you may need to advance it a lil bit. check your plugs and if they are super black then you are running too rich and if they are white then your in need of more fuel. = and you might need to go dsm link if nothing else works.
welcome to the land of D.S.M. |
Re: My car stutters...
Yea sorry man, if I woulda known you didn't have anything to tune your car with I woulda told you that right away. If you did a boost leak test and it checked out good then you should just need something to tune with and you'll be set.

anyone make chips to compensate?

Re: My car stutters...
Easy way to tell if your ecu is eprom or not is to see if it has an E on the outside of the casing.
However, that doesn't always mean it is eprom, in the 1gs sometimes it will have a eprom case with a non eprom ecu inside. If you can pull it out and open it, you will notice a chip on the bottom right hand corner of the board, that means you have an eprom. |
Re: My car stutters...
it's a galant vr4. no worries there. anyone local?
|
Re: My car stutters...
What do you mean anyone local? Lots of nukkaz here are local.
|
Re: My car stutters...
local person that does chips.
|
Re: My car stutters...
Maybe DB? But your best bet is what super bleeder recommended.
|
Re: My car stutters...
Yea shane @ DB can do chips. But you'll need to have him or someone socket your eprom so that you can actually swap chips.

Just because it's a VR4 doesn't mean the E-Prom ECU is still in it. Unless you're the original owner ;) |
Re: My car stutters...
If you need just a basic fuel controller and don't have the eprom ecu, look into the SAFC2. Will be able to get you by.
|
Re: My car stutters...
just use an afc or dsm link and have it tuned...
|
Re: My car stutters...
For the time being, the cheapest way to go is to just get your ECU socketed and chipped (providing it's an Eprom). Shane at DB burned a chip for me and it worked great till I was able to get DSMlink and a tune from him.
