My Boost Leak Tester

Here are a few pics, I can mass produce these for about $15 a pop if that is OK with Scheides...

Re: My Boost Leak Tester

Weak... You need a PSI gauge on there to watch the pressure instead of having to run into the car to see what its at!

Re: My Boost Leak Tester

I fucking have one lol!

But my stupid drill is too basic / small to fit the drill bit I bought to make it work...

Here... If I can just get my hands on a drill that will hold a 7/16" bit...

Danger to manifold.

Re: My Boost Leak Tester

lol you only put it to 25 psi... that is the only one PSI gauge Napa offered.

Re: My Boost Leak Tester

25? Shit... I always check mine to 50.

Its damn fun when the boost leak tester flies off the turbo as well!

Re: My Boost Leak Tester

yea, someone told me they once forgot to lower the PSI on the compressor when doing a boost leak test and let it rip at 120 psi... BOOOM!

I always T-Bolt the boost leak tester on now. Scares the shit outta you when it blows off the inlet.

Re: My Boost Leak Tester

Mine has never blown off, and I have had it set to like 50+ psi on the compressor. Its messed up I think. Maybe I just don't do it right haha I probably screwed my engine to hell.

the one i linked is half the depth of yours, and uses Tbolt Clamps. Much safer. its also got shiney metal. not plastic.

Re: My Boost Leak Tester

Mine is PVC, I will be picking up Tbolt clamps when I'm in town this weekend from Napa. Mine is also about 4.5 inches long, nothing outrageous.

Edit - The reason I don't already have the t-bolt clamps is because that stupid spectre coupler came with those clamps and I was on a huge budget at the time.

Neato, another boost leak tester! You can try and mass market them all you want, its been done 1000x before ;) Have fun, but YES definitely a great tool to have and everyone should do this on their car regularly!

Re: My Boost Leak Tester

Lol I'm sure Scheides that it would be hard to sell any since they are so easy to make your self. I have a few ideas to greatly improve this design.

I just did this because I needed one and for a little mini project while I'm stuck in Wisconsin.

A real mans boost leak tester has an air compressor fitting on it.

Amen. I love that whooshing sound when you unhook the compressor line.
