e-85 compression questions
 

Ok I have been doing some searching and I need some input.

My motor is in pieces now and I have various components from different motors and I need something to work.

THe block I have has no oil squirters and it came with a 7 bolt crank. My buddy says its a non turbo motor and the pistons it came with are 9:1 compression. I was searching around for some other pistons and whatnot and I came upon a thread where they said 9:1 is good for people using E-85, anyone have any though about this? I have a 16g from an evo that I am going to use and 510 injectors. I also have an e-manage and datalogger for electronics.

Anyone have any input on what pistons I can use to get this thing running or what I would need to use e-85? I know I would need new injectors to use the e-85 and probably a bigger fuel pump, I just wonder if it is more reasonable to use the money I would spend on different comp. pistons to convert to e-85.

just some lingering thoughts that could use some input. thanks

Are they aftermarket pistons? 9:1 should work fine with E85, but if they are a factory piston, they still might break even though they aren't that high of compression.

Lucas English is running an aluminum rod motor with 10:1 pistons on e85 and making record numbers on a stock IX turbo. As long as they are decent aftermarket pistons, there's no reason why 9:1 wouldn't work awesome on e85, or pump gas for that matter. What are you going to use to tune the thing?

The compression ratio is no big deal. Shane's pointing out that if they're stock pistons, they might be of a lesser material than the factory turbo pistons, hence not able to take much boost.

yeah there stockers. I was looking for more info on them and i ran the numbers on the top (63dTf1) and everything I see says that they are 2g turbo pistons which would be the 8.5 to 1s. anyone know if the na pistons had the same marks?

I have an e-manage that I am gonna use for tuning. but I have no wideband probably should look for one. .
