Does anyone no where I can find a 2.4 out of an 80's mitsu van?

Try a junkyard. Why are you looking for a van block though? Why not a sonata? QPR has a source for 2.4 engines.

Most of the vans have the wrong bolt pattern for our tranny's (as do the trucks).

I can bolt a six speed 3000gt tranny to the engine.

JET 03-03-2004 04:14 PM

And what intermediate shaft are you going to use? How about the shaft between the engine and the tranny? Axles? Better think it through!! I have already went that way and am sticking with the 12.5" pattern.

Another 3KGT tranny user. Talk to Mike at QPR, he's also got big plans for using that tranny. I wish I could afford to build myself a 2.4, damn.

BUCKY 03-03-2004 06:43 PM

I'll figure it out. All I know is if im gonna do it i want it to be bad ass and different from what everyone else does. Oh and Mike is who got me on that plan. He told me about it when we dropped off my roomates shortblock to be built.

Then what? Have another tranny that breaks but is more expensive and harder to get parts for?

Mike and I were the ones to figure out all the numbers. I found all the gear ratios and made sure the bolt patterns were the same. The ratio's are pretty crazy. 42 mph in 1st and like 328 in 6th or something crazy like that. It needs to be geared down to work well in a DSM. You also have to switch the rear end out. There is a ton of crap that needs to be done and you are looking at about $5k to switch it out.

Come on nothing a torch and some duct tape cant handle.
