Starting a new place to race?

npaulseth 02-27-2004 08:16 AM

They've been trying forevAr! Looks like they might finally pull through though. Man that would be nice.

Jakey 02-27-2004 08:45 AM

That would be awesome, check out some of the old photos they've got

FattyBoomBatty 02-27-2004 11:10 AM

anybody have any idea where they are planning to build? they said it was a secret on the site, but would it be close to the cities?

Jakey 02-27-2004 11:26 AM

Where was the original Minnesota Dragways that closed in '77?

JET 02-27-2004 11:32 AM

Their goal has been to keep it within 45 minutes of the cities. They were looking around Faribault, but that got shot down last Dec. Hopefully this new place will be good.

npaulseth 02-27-2004 11:55 AM

Re: Dragways

So... did these guys just disappear? The site doesn't work anymore. I guess I quit following it awhile back. Anyone know what happened?

Re: Dragways

There are plenty of local drag strips. That's why they invented the interstate!

Re: Dragways

Not sure, but on the subject someone just bought BIR. Maybe the same group?

Re: Dragways

It's the guys that were trying to start Pine Run, Jed Copham I believe is his name. They tried 2 different spots and neither went thru. So they bought BIR and there will be some track improvements over the coming years. Such that there can be 2 or more events held at the same time. This is a good idea because it will drop some of the insurance costs for the organizers, thus dropping entry fees.
