well that computer is bad in this tsi so i need to know what computers out of what cars well work. well a 2.0 non turbo from a 90 work? the tsi is a 92.
Thanks!!
Tom

no, a 90 nt would not would not work in a 92 tsi. Fuel, timing, Boost, and vaccum would be way off. I think the wiring is diff from a 90. I believe you can get any 91-94 turbo ecu. Auto doesn't matter though.

fasttom 02-27-2004 01:38 PM

so it makes no dif if the computer is out of a 5 speed car and is going in a auto? i am asking cuz there is a post going in the basic tech.
Thanks!!
Tom

On turbo cars with MT, you will need a MT ECU.

fasttom 02-27-2004 03:12 PM

the car i am buying is a 92 tsi awd with an auto in it i want to know if a ecm our of a 91 2.0 turbo fwd with a 5 speed well work

JET 02-27-2004 03:49 PM

It will be off slightly, but it would work to limp it around. The car will run a little rich and the timing would be off a little. Nothing huge, but I wouldn't want to run it like that for any length of time.

I fucking already said it won't. Please don't ask questions that have already been answered. It won't work well for a few reasons...mainly different injectors and turbo on the 1G AT cars compared to the MT 1G's.

JET 02-27-2004 04:34 PM

The turbo makes no difference to the ECU, but it will run about 15% rich. Like I said, it will run, but I wouldn't want to run it like that for long. At cruise it should be able to fix itself because it checks the O2 sensor, but at WOT it will be off.

Oh ok...so you shouldn't have to retune your car this summer with your larger turbo :stick:

john 02-28-2004 01:05 AM

Auto cars have different cams, turbos, and injectors so it will be off. I don't know what the hell I was thinking above... Any 91-94 turbo 5-speed ecu will work. It is FWD and AWD that is interchangable. Search junk yards on car-part.com.

The difference between a 13g and a 14b is very small. It wouldn't really affect the performance at all. 11 psi on a 13g and 14b is going to be a nearly identical mass of air. I ran both the 13g and 14b on the same car. I didn't notice any difference when I switched. Hell the small 16g was virtually identical too except that it held boost a tad longer.

fasttom 02-28-2004 02:34 PM

i dont know this car pages the boost gage at 14 and it goes as far as the gage well.

JET 02-28-2004 03:19 PM

You need to do a lot of reading if you think that the stock boost guage does shit!! All that is doing is guessing the boost by the amount of air that goes in the car. Change anything and it will be off.

AJ 02-28-2004 03:27 PM

put the keys down and walk away from the DSM. :bounce:

And it's Gauge.

fasttom 03-03-2004 11:31 AM

no can do on the keys the car is in my yard now and i found bad caps in the computer the place that worked on the car for 5 hours says the computer is getting all the info it needs to make it run but was not sending out the signal to spark could the caps do this to it???
Thanks!!
Tom

talk to LIGHTNINGGSX. He can fix it for you or tell you if you should get another ECU.

Kracka 03-03-2004 03:55 PM

Yeah...either get the caps replaced if the board isn't already eroded or just buy a used one.

fasttom 03-04-2004 10:35 AM

no the board looks good i should be getting it back today. with new caps and a clean up!! i just wish this really nice 90 e prom would work :razz2:
