Coolant in Oil
 

Well over the weekend I noticed my car has started to mix coolant into the oil. I have done some research and from what I have come up with it could be the headgasket, oil cooler, or turbo. Which one is the most common problem when it comes to a DSM? My car is a 95 and has roughly 100,000 miles on it. Is there any way to test the oil cooler to see if that is in fact the problem? I will be doing a compression test in the next few days, but if it were in fact a headgasket wouldn't the mixing go both ways? I checked the coolant and there seems to be no sign of oil in it. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Do an oil change and see if there's coolant in it.

Compression and leakdown test are the next thing to try!

Have you had problems starting the car lately? That can wash down the cylinder walls and get gas in the oil. I would change the oil and see if it comes back. If it does, then headgasket is most likely, but follow the checks Scheides said.

I actually did have a problem with the car starting a few weeks back, but this definately looks like coolant to me, there seems to be a slight green tint to it and it doesnt really smell like gas. I guess I will dump the oil and see where it goes from there.

Also, it is common in the winter to see milky substance on your oil cap.....IF you don't drive your car much! Where did you see them mixing in the first place?

When I pull the dipstick to check the oil it looks very milky.

Change the oil, watch for coolant, and then take the car for a very long and hard drive. Report back with your findings.
