You're going bass-ackwards. Most do FWD->AWD but I've heard of people doing this. I think matt j's 2g had an AWD rear axle but no D/S was in it and it was FWD. Good luck. But I guess if the price is right...What's he doing with his old 1g AWD axles? I'll buy them if they're good.

Holy balls. I just remembered that like 10 mins ago and I sent you a text. Didn't know that was you on here! I'm sending it out tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvience but I couldn't get in to my buddys shop to grab the gasket I want to give you with it. I'm pretty sure I have an extra set of studs and nuts for the manifold so I'll include that stuff. Sorry man. I couldn't get out to it last night because he was out of town. I'll throw in a bunch of freebies that I find.

I really need some front axles (mostly drivers side w/ carrier) so if you can, get them off his hands and text me a price or have him text me. I'm so sorry I didn't get that out yet, **** man so sorry. I'll throw in a bunch of freebies for the inconvenience.

tranny, started plate, flywheel to make it fwd. reuse the awd axels in the fwd tranny. It is a huge upgrade to have them the same length so you dont get tourght streer.

dood, i have an ok awd tranny, just give me something, ANYTHING, i would really like to not see this happen, FWD sucks ass (especially with an un-limited slip diff)

Re: AWD to FWD conversion Q

I would be worried about the driveshaft. Obviously you have to take it off, but I would be worried about the piece you have to leave in the rear end. I have towed many cars like that, but I wouldn't want to drive one around like that. I believe that piece is just held in with a little C clip like an axle, right?

Re: AWD to FWD conversion Q

as much as i personaly hate doing this to his car, its not just the tranny, there are a couple of major things wrong with his whole drive AWD system! im not sure what! trust me he just put in 20g with custom o2 housing and a front mount, i wish he had the money to replace every thing, but shit happens to the best of cars lol !

Re: AWD to FWD conversion Q

I call BS!

Point #1
1G driveshafts rarely have problems, even when they clunk around, they are safe to drive on!

Point #2
if it is a 3-bolt rear end and you BROKE it, they are a dime a dozen
if it is a 4-bolt rear end IT IS NOT BROKEN

Point #3
if your "custom" exhaust is rubbing on the drive shaft, FIX IT!

Point #4
If your transfer case is LIT ON FIRE, I HAVE 10 of them laying around! SO DO MANY OTHER MEMBERS ON THIS FORUM!

There, the whole AWD system is covered, BAM!

Re: AWD to FWD conversion Q

like i said it's really not my problem, if he wanted to put the AWD back in he would, not my car, if it was i would just fix the problem but he wants to take the easy way out, which is not so easy so im just helping him!
