Just found out yesterday that I am getting promoted to Corporal on Monday. That means like an extra hundred or so bux a month. Not a lot, but still its more money. I'm pretty excited, I finally get to put a red stripe down the side of my blue pants which you don't wear until you get corporal! Just been a pretty good last couple weeks. Lots of good news like this and japan and everything!!!!

Welcome to the life of an NCO (non-comissioned Officer for all you non-military fans). Do I get any points for being a Staff Sergeant in JROTC? (St. Thomas Academy MI)
Congrats!!! That's awesome news.
JROTC? C'mon man, u can't compare the military to that!!!! I'm juss givin ya shit tho. PROMOTION TOMORROW!!!!!!
Hey, its the closest thing i can get to the real thing. Thats why im in the top 5% of my LET class and am a part of the Colour Guard. So Im a tool............
I don't know what a LET class is. I was never in ROTC. No offense, but its hillarious when all the ROTC guys come to our base and come eat at the chow hall. You got these little kids with all these ribbons for doing who knows what and they pretend like they're some high ranked person who deserves some kinda respect or sumthin. I even had an ROTC warrant officer tell me I was supposed to salute him and he was dead serious and acted like he was going to do something if I didn't. All we could do was laugh and tell him to get a clue.
I cant stand that shit, thats why I know where my place is and i dont act like im hot shit, cuz i know im not. btw, LET is leadership education training, its our military class. To tell you the truth, its pretty pathetic and pointelss, but the instructors are pretty tight. Everyone says that ROTC is a good base if you want to go active in the future, so Im going off of that. When we went up to Camp Ripley in October, everyone who thought they were hot shit from the other schools kept gettin shit and stuff from the specialists and corporals mainly, but we were actually respected if we knew our place and realized that we arent even close to the military and just went with what we were told to do. So, its all good

I am now officially Corporal Halonen!!!!!

You're military? please expand... Reserves? Army? just curoius!!!

I was in the Army National Guard. 11B! I drove a track my last 2 years. Humped around a M60 the first 2. I would have been a sergaent, but I never went to PLDC because we went to England, then Germany. We couldn't go for 2 weeks in the summer and to PLDC (sergaent school) because of budget cuts, and I wasn't skipping england or germany!! I was in for a total of 6 years and went to basic & AIT at Ft. Benning Georgia.

cool man, i should pick up sergeant in exactly 1 year, I'll be in Japan when I pick up! Then I might re-enlist, but only if they gimme I&I orders to the Twin Cities. That'd be pretty cool. But if not, then I guess I gotta just find work in the Twin Cities, and from what I've been hearing, the job market blows, which kinda scares me. But oh well, what can i do
Oh yeah...well I used to be a wolf scout... :razz2: Congrats man
thanx austin, find me a job before i come home man, i can't be jap-brandon forever
