Looks like the SMG box works pretty well.

Interesting, but like gasoline powered cars, it's going to be hard to convince people to give up a good old fashioned 5/6 speed.

I'll take a SMG gear box as long as it will do what I ask when I ask. (unless engine damage would result) And doesn't do things you don't ask. (let the engine bounce on the limiter if you don't tell it to shift) Sounds like they may finaly be to that point, or with the dual clutch system it's finally smooth enough for the people that expect it to be like an auto tranny.

Yes, but can it handle silly amount of whp and serious abuse the dsm community will apply to it? Sure manual transaxles break, but they can be built in a simple fashion. Who knows what building these new things will entail.

One day I say I'd like the STi, another day I think the evo is better. I love the way the STi looks, sounds, and the interior. However, the evo seems more hardcore and can back up it's looks with ease.

It's made by Getrag. I don't know if it will be as overbuilt as a 3S transmission, but enthusiasts can only hope. As long as Mitsu doesn't screw the pooch on replacement parts like they did the 3S.
