Besides being old and used? Just get your DSM tranny rebuilt by any of the numerous shops specializing in it and know for certain it will be good.

Re: evo 3 tranny upgrade

Evo 3 trannies have all sorts of goodies that other shops sell as "upgrades." Like double synchro 3-4, a first gear taller than the gvr4 gear and stronger as well, and a taller fifth.

You'll need to change the ring gear on the center diff or find the rear diff gears for an evo3 to make all the wheels spin at the same speed.

I think MAP runs an evo3 trans in kyles blue 1g?

Re: evo 3 tranny upgrade

well
double synchro 2-4
steel shift forks
1st 2.750
2nd 1.684
3rd 1.160
4th 0.862
5th 0.617
Reverse 3.166
Final Ratio 5.358
also has a oem clutch lsd

it is the best dsm tranny I have ever had but mine has a cusco lsd in it.
you will need the part numbers for the evo III tranny beacuse if you look they will just say it is a evo tranny and the evo I tranny is just a galant tranny. the evo 2 and 3 are pretty much the same tranny. You will need to change the gear because you will look for a long time to get a rear end lsd and gear set. also the evo t.c. are geared diffrent.

I'm not a fan of the steel shift forks. They've got some POS bushing that wear out super fast. EvoIII trans w/ double pinned aluminum shift forks FTW

Haha i know right. All those "years of R&D" those shops do right, lolz.

I know that JacksTransmissions guy can order you the complete evo3 gearset, but its not cheap. Around 900 bucks for the shafts and gears alone w/o synchros.

Jack's also a little baby and deleted all his posts that used to help people on the link forums, because his feelings were hurt. He also claims to have the secret to fixing Crankwalk, and will take it to his grave. He was who I was going to send my tranny to, but not after that childish crap.
