Buschnuts calls out Magnus

Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
Interesting what good branding can do, and what people will do regardless of facts.

Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
Good info from Buschur.

very nice

Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
Looks like I will rethink that Magnus Intake.

Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
Man that is just awesome. Sucks for Magnus but if it's not tested then why run it. This is exactly why I am sending off my spare intake manifold and TB to buschur for porting. It's dyno proven to make power, it's relatively inexpensive, and it's basically just enhancing an already awesome oem design.
http://mitsustyle.com/forums/showthr...t=16982&page=2 BTW, the original thread on evolutionM got closed down because of all the bickering. Buschur was actually keeping cool and making suggestions on the various intake manifolds on the market and everyone else was throwing him under the bus for questioning their products, it was 110% insane, I'm glad I read it when I did. Either way, that thread was called something like, 'pushing some intake manifolds to the limit' and was originally posted by ifarted2 (Paul M....something) who's working with English Racing and ETS. They were going to be testing a slew of intake manifolds as they're trying to max out a 45R. Something tells me their testing will be *very* interesting if they actually follow through with it. Buschur and Al Friedman run HKS kensai intakes on their drag cars, it'd be interesting to see a test between that and a ported stocker. Also of note (and it was mentioned in that thread) they all wanted to see the results of a design that EvilEvo (on here) had come up with but like other things never finished. Side note: don't expect much collaboration between buschur and paulM/English Racing, because there's a whole other thread where they were arguing over who's bearings were in better shape after a season of thrashing on their drag cars. Paul's Bearings and pistons looked like shyte, buschur's were basically in good shape. But that's neither here nor there. Fuck Magnus after what they did to Vicious! |

Doesn't Kevin have a Magnus SMIM on his car? We need to see some dyno results from that bad boy, since he's on stock cams. That will answer a few questions in my head. |
Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
I don't know about the EVO Magnus manifolds, but the DSM ones did just fine in the intake shootout a few years ago. It's funny how many people jump on the bandwagon when a vendor bashes another and says his product is crap. Hmmmm.

Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
I think it's been plenty proven that they are an improvement over stock DSM manifolds. Evo's could be a whole different story though.

Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
I'm running one on my car, and it would be really interesting to see a back to back comparason on a dsm.

Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
They have back to back tests on DSM's. The IM shootout from years ago.

Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
Oh, ok. I guess I never saw that.

Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
Doesn't suprise me at all.
Back in the 80s/90s, no one put any thought in to forced induction intake manifold designs. Yeah, they maybe made ports slightly larger, change plenums a little over an N/A design, but no real thought went into top end performance. Now, some companies are doing a shitload of testing different manifolds on honda's trying to beat out the OEM Designs. I'm not sure on the S2k engines, but I know they were having trouble making gains with a K-Series engine intake mani over stock. I also don't really agree with some of what the "how to build SMIM" sections of books say, but I will never ever be building an intake manifold, so that is a non-point for me. |
Re: Buschnuts calls out Magnus
Sheetmetal intakes make decent power on 1Gs, if you have cams and a turbo that is worth reving past 7000RPMs. People have made good power on the stock 1G intake manifold though, but they won't carry the power out past 6500. From what I have seen, the 2G manifold blows. You put a 1G TB on a sheetmetal intake with a 2G head and you have a setup that can make some power.
The Evo seems to be a bit different though, they really don't drop much power up top reving out to 8000. Even on stock turbo Evos that might lose 3-6psi of boost from max torque to revlimiter, often have a fairly flat or small drop in power up top. From what I have seen with aftermarket intake manifolds on Evos, the gains are hard to come by. With a 1G or 2G DSM you can just at a dynochart and know if a car had a stock intake manifold on it or not. |

Yeah, but he's obviously got something else to sell now, and this promotes whatever he's got currently.
