Oil Leaking Past Exhaust Studs?
Does anyone know if the exhaust manifold stud holes in the 1G 6bolt turbo cylinder heads are blind or do they go all the way through into the head? I will investigate myself with a thin poker in a day or so. I only ask because it seems as if oil is leaking past my exhaust manifold studs. This has actually happened on a previous car of mine, and the only solution was *gasp* high temp RTV on the threads... which is kinda stupid considering hydraulic locking or whatever it's called. Any one have any similar issues?

Re: Oil Leaking Past Exhaust Studs?
i remember someone telling me/or reading somewhere that a few of the studs go into oiling passages in the head.

Re: Oil Leaking Past Exhaust Studs?
The lower middle stud passes right through an oil return galley. That is why you need to RTV the end of the stud before you install it.

Re: Oil Leaking Past Exhaust Studs?
The bottom middle stud needs some RTV on the threads, or it will leak, as you have found out.
