FLYWHEEL: ACT or Fidanza?
I've researched all around for this already but I just wanted to know from this forum to see what you guru's in here would rather choose. My car's a 96 gst pushing 267whp at the LSE dyno awhile back. I'm going to be throwing in a Southbend DXD clutch in there and still debating about keeping the stock flywheel but I'm leaning more towards a new flywheel. And now it's the ACT flywheel or the Fidanza. Which one would you recommend or choose and why. Good or bad experiences?

Re: FLYWHEEL: ACT or Fidanza?
I have a act in my talon fwd and one in my awd spyder they work great I have not ever had a problem with them at all. fidanza use to have problems with the rivits braking off on the mitsu's. I just like the 1 piece flywheels better

Re: FLYWHEEL: ACT or Fidanza?
I had a Fidanza for about a thousand miles and it was pretty nice. Never had an ACT though. Had the CFDF/Fidanza setup, I liked it. Swapped engines so the 7bolt flywheel is now a paperweight :(
I'm still trying to figure out if I'm going to get a 6 bolt Fidanza and use my CFDF with that again or go ACT 2600/ACT FW. Or Competition Clutch and maybe a Fidanza? This topics been brought up all over teh intronetz but it's always fun to hear new opinions. |
Re: FLYWHEEL: ACT or Fidanza?
I had the 8lbs Fidanza on my DXD SS FE for about 4000 miles. When I took it off to part it there was alot of heat soaking and wear. It appeared that it was in need of a replacement disk already. I'm not sure about fidanza because of that. And yes it was broke in properly.. Although even with it like that I never had a problem with performance. If I ever bought another it would be ACT never hear anything negitive on them.

Re: FLYWHEEL: ACT or Fidanza?
No problens with my ACT flywheel. 400+ HP daily FWD. I would recomend it to anyone looking to upgrade flywheels. If you go with an aluminum flywheel of any kind I'd recomend and auto spacer plate and longer bolts.

Re: FLYWHEEL: ACT or Fidanza?
I have had a 9 pound fidanza flywheel on my car now for the last 10,000 miles, no problems, stock-like driveability, very nice unit.

Re: FLYWHEEL: ACT or Fidanza?
I have had both and I like the Fidanza more. The chrome moly in the ACT is more slippery than the surface on the Fidanza, so it will not hold as much power.
Mark - what rivets are on a Fidanza? I don't have any on mine, the friction surface is held on by screws. The surface of my Fidanza didn't look too good when I took it off either, but it was working great. It has since went in another car and is working just fine. |
Re: FLYWHEEL: ACT or Fidanza?
I like my Fidanza. The ACT causes problems.

Re: FLYWHEEL: ACT or Fidanza?
I am a big fan of the Fidanza for performance applications simply because you can replace the friction surface rather than the whole flywheel the next time you replace your clutch.
