I was watchign Road Trip to The LA Auto Show on ESPN. Then they start talking about performance cars and I kind of laugh it off considering for god sake its a Hybrid. THen comes the shocker this thing has 470HP and its AWD with a 5spd Transmission!

DSM97RS 02-23-2004 08:41 PM

welcome to last month? hehe... 270 hp engine powering the front wheels and electric motor powering the rear.

BuildADSM 02-23-2004 09:23 PM

I don't think tha they are actually going to make it though unfortionatly. I could be wrong.

A//// Guy 02-23-2004 10:01 PM

I hope they dont make it. 2 engines are gay, and would be a nightmare to fix or maintain. Plus it looks like a spaceship.

MATCHBX 02-23-2004 11:02 PM

They are making this. I talked to one of the mechanics from mitsu and he said that they will be bringing this out for the 2005 model year. It has a 3.5 or 3.6 or 3.8 liter v-6 or something like that.

Halon 02-23-2004 11:04 PM

i wonder how you'd mod one of those? do u just get a wonder battery to bump the rear engine up 20hp or sumthin?

john 02-23-2004 11:05 PM

It seems like an awsome car besides the fact that it will weigh about 4000 pounds. They call it E boost. I guess the rear electric engine provides the most power.

jimwross 02-24-2004 09:33 PM

I don't know... I mean the concept is cool but I seriously doubt they'd release a 400+ hp eclipse to the public.

1) 400+? won't this be ungodly expensive?
2) This is reaching near viper hp... and you know everybody and thier sister has an eclipse; do they really think that 16 year old chelsea is going to be able to handel this power? shit, bad enough drivers as it is.

But hey! They are cool lookin... esp the interior.

A//// Guy 02-25-2004 12:14 AM

Well you got an EVO that costs 30K+... makes 280hp. Double the horses and engines and you therefore double the cost.

I would assume 50k for that concept at the least. Poo on that.

2003eclipse 02-25-2004 07:03 PM

Once again at the Chicago auto show the dealers were talking about their batteries and such being how thats a new source of power and becoming so common. Honda is putting a 180k mile warranty on their battier features and mitsu is doing something of the same sort if im not mistaken

niterydr 02-25-2004 09:27 PM

It would probably be 6g74 based (3.5L)
electric motors? :razz2:
If they want to bring back a true 2 ton killer, re-introduce the 3000gt.
I'd be all over one of those like white on rice :)

FattyBoomBatty 02-25-2004 09:51 PM

well, it would have great 60 ft times, electric motors make the most torque at 0 rpm so launching will own. and i am predicting a 4g63 turbo w/AWD if they have the AWD/4cyl option.

Blk96Eclipse 02-25-2004 10:57 PM

I think they will cut down the power before they release. I dont think they change the Eclipse name from around a 20K car to a more rare exotic type 50K car
