Ice Fishing
 

Anyone go yet? Over here there are already people in pop-ups going out. Seen the first set yesterday go out there. Driving down the lake you see more, kinda crazy that we just had white caps last week. There seems to be 4-6 inches of ice already.

Anyone else be out there?

no way...i live on a lake and i wouldn't set one foot on that ice yet!

Hmm I wouldnt step out on any lake yet either.. I cant imagine there is more than 3 inches. Maybe further up north there is though. This cold snap should really make a nice base quickly.

Ill be up at the cabin in a couple week, so ill check the conditions up there.

I thought it was BS too when I first heard it, but during lunch we went and checked it out, we had a good amount of ice already. Only a handful of fishermen that were probably out there to see who can get in the paper.

I am going to check it out this weekend. If there is 4" I will be out fishing next week!!

i hope we get the "10 inches of snow" they are saying so i can get the sled out!

Yeah I haven't been fishing in like 2 years. Ice fishing is the best, maybe I'll break down and get a liscense after the new ones are available

Guy today told me round lake up in Andover has about 6 along the shore where it froze first, and 4 in the middle. Thick enough for me, but too soon after freeze to trust it.

too thin to be catchin the big ones.... need at least 10" for me to be out in the middle of a lake!!!!

driving by a lake on my way to work yesterday morning convinced me to stay away from lakes for a couple more weeks. The whole lake was frozen over, but there was long cracks going most of the way across that were about a foot wide.

Those are ice making cracks... it's safe to go out on, i promise you :crapper:

There is plenty on most lakes that started to freeze over a week ago. Drove by one lake on fri night with 20+ portables and several permanants!

still too early for me to go on the lake behind my house. I cant swim very well, especially when Im freezing my bones off, so falling through would not be fun. I'll wait another couple weeks, then maybe getting my lil nephews started in hockey.
Been a while since i've last ice fished. Maybe I'll go this year if we get a little house up.

I'll be down for ice fishing in about 2 weeks, just don't like getting first/last ice nowadays.
But I've been thru about 1/2 a dozen times in the 23+ years I've been fishing.

Someone already went through the ice on Coon Lake..Stupid to be out already if you ask me! I am waiting a couple more weeks before I will even walk out.

Youve been through the ice a half dozen times?? Thats nuts! Ive never came close and always hate the idea of heading out onto a lake I dont know.

Telling ya I will die doing something stupid in/with a car most likely.

The times I've fallen thru I was younger and alot dumber, last time I went thru was probably 16.
I've never submerged, but I have been up to my armpits.

I don't count dunking a leg in a predrilled hole falling thru, but making a new hole with my leg does count.
