FS: 1990 Talon AWD Modded, Midwest

The time has come to sell my beloved 1990 Talon TSI AWD, as I will be moving soon and don’t have the space to really enjoy this car for awhile. There is over $17,000 invested in the car, with most of the receipts to show for it. This has the most desirable combo’s for any DSM, the four bolt rear and six bolt motor. You won’t have to worry about crankwalk on this motor, or too weak of a rear end during those 6000 RPM launches.

I am the third owner of this car. I purchased it from a gentlemen who bought it from an older gentleman with 161,019 miles. Everything was original including the engine, showing just how well this car was taken care of.

Overall the car is in excellent condition. The car has never been smoked in, and always stored in a garage. Since I’ve owned it, it’s never seen snow. There is absolutely no rust on the body, and only minor surface rust on the undercarriage. Most of my time and money has gone into making the car fast and reliable, so I’ll list out possible issues with the car that the buyer may have.

- The paint. The car has the original paint. It looks great for a 17 year old paint job, but by no means is it perfect. The fenders are beginning to have some clear coat fade. The side panels are all straight, but have numerous parking lot dings. The hood appears to have been repainted, but not very well. With that being said, it still looks great, but it would be up to the buyer if it bothered them enough to paint it.

- Interior. The front interior is in excellent condition again for a 17 year old car. Seats are in perfect condition, carpet is clean, dash is good. The rear of the car has been gutted from the front seats back. I still have all of the plastic, carpet, and seats that can be included with the sale if requested.

- Air conditioning has been removed. Car retains power locks, power brakes, power steering, cruise control, heat, and power windows.

- Emissions. Car will not pass emissions in current state. Many emission controls in engine bay have been removed, along with missing catalytic converter.

Car is currently running at 20lbs of boost. It’s still relatively untuned, so there is a lot more potential in the car. A setup like this is capable of easily running 28+ lbs of boost and an 11 second timeslip. It starts right up just fine, runs cool, and even gets decent gas mileage if you stay out of boost. Always used Mobil 1 oil and filters every 2500 miles. New fluids in the transmission, transfer case, and rear end.

Of course, there is no warranty of any kind on the vehicle or any of the parts on the vehicle. I do certify that the odometer reading has never been tampered with by myself, and have a statement from the previous, original owner that he has never altered it either. The odometer still reads the total mileage that has been put on the car, not the new engine. I have put less than 7,000 miles on the car since I owned it, so many parts have even less miles on them. Also I will include a brand new set of tires for the stock rims FREE if we get a deal made in the next week or so. They are Eagle HP’s, in the stock size. Cost $400+There is no major mechanical issues that I know of. Car drives straight, no unusual sounds.

The car must be picked up, and PAID FOR WITH CASH OR A CERTIFIED BANK CHECK. I will not part out anything, as I just don’t have the time right now to remove parts and ship everything. Not looking for auto trades. Located in Iowa, zip code 50010. Please respond to this thread and PM if you are interested. I'll PM you my phone number if you'd like to talk, or even setup a time to come look at/drive the car.

With that being said, I’d like to get $6,500 or best offer for this. You’re getting a nice six bolt/four bolt 1G, $17,000 worth of after market and OEM goodies, and one of the best AWD platforms out there on a budget.

My buddy has an unmolested 91 stealth rt/tt he's looking to get into something smaller, but still awd/turbo. The only thing he has on it is a manual boost controller set to like 12psi, and a cd player, whoooo. He's just dumped new bearings in the bottom end professionally and has had a new drive axel custom made for it and I just replaced the rear inner bearing for him last week. New brakes and tires. Its like a Fireball red, with dark charcoal leather interior and all the power options you want including a moon roof. I don't think there are much miles on it. The only problem is the dumbass cut off his recirculation pipe with no supporting mods and put a bov on and now it dies off at stop signs lol. Its like a $10 tube, nbd. It's really nice, he had every ding professionally pulled out of it, but now a few months back a lady hit him in the rear bumper, no damage, just paint spider and a paint scuff on the corner of the bumper, he can probably have his step-dad (a bodyman) spotpaint it. He's wanting like $7500 for it but me and a couple of buddys all own eclipses and talons, so were trying to get him one. Im kinda doing this behind his back, but if your interested you might be able to get this for a trade.... possibly straight up, but I doubt it, maybe with a little money towards it, but I could coax him. Sorry for the novel, but just throwing it out there.

Hey, thanks for the offer, but unfortunately at the moment I am just looking for cash.

I'll post an update if something changes! Thanks!

Sounds like a good set up and a great sleeper. Although you might want to drop the price a hair because the exterior is showing its age.

It looks great for an 18 year old car, but I've spent all my money on making it fast and reliable. No rust on the body. I just don't have the time, or the space for this car right now. Taking offers!
