Random question for anyone at dyno day

Anyone who wants to speak in I don't mind, but I of course posted my dyno on the 4G forums, because there isn't a lot of dyno posting, and it's nice for other members with the same setup as me, since there are a few, to know what they should be running.

So anyway, there is a guy saying I should be running much closer to 300whp, which I immediately thought would be nuts. The car is rated at 263 to the crank stock, and you have to account for something like 15% loss to the wheels, right? So 225 is you just purely assume that my car loses exactly 15% from crank to the ground.

Is he right in assuming I should have gained much more whp?

I'm thinking my gains are about what I expected, not only because numbers don't lie, but because it's an automatic also, that could account for some loss, it's not tuned, etc...

Just looking for feedback, want to see what you guys think!

After deleting my last cat with a test pipe and then a tune should I be able to expect over 250whp? For now I think my goal would be 300, but i'm thinking with the small aftermarket 275 might be more realistic.

300 whp would be rediculous. He must be talking crank hp, even then a 37 hp gain from an exhaust is a lot. You also have to remeber the dyno dynamics read low compared to the dynojets many places use. You should be able to add at least 10% to get to dynojet numbers on your car. This of course is just for comparison sake. The real benefit to the dyno is to go back to the same dyno and see how much of a gain you got from your latest mod.

I completely agree with JET.

You're making very good power considering your limited mods, I wouldn't worry if I were you!

Ask Shane what he uses to compare DD numbers to DynoJet numbers. I think it was around 18% or something? The power you put down is very impressive, considering stock evos put down 200-220 on that dyno and lightly modded ones put down 260-290whp. My car puts down in the neighborhood of 325whp, and will hang with 911 turbos with ease. No offense, but 300whp out of your car on your current setup on a dyno dynamics dyno would be *impossible*.

:D

11.5%-13% for 2wd dd to dj.
Numbers are good, tell your "buddies" to get lost or get a clue.

Yeah thats basically what I thought, and earlier I mentioned to the guy that he was probably confusing crank hp with wheel horse power, but he was taking the word of a vendor over mine, since the vendor was claiming "close to 300whp with these headers along with your intake and exhaust"

Probably just a typo or whatever.

At the dyno day when people asked me what I thought i'd run i'm pretty sure I was saying 230-240 as my guess and I was right on target with that, I know easy bolt ons don't make 80whp. :sex2:

And again thanks for the insight, you guys are awesome.

And also to clarify, when I mentioned goals, I meant overall, not just with what I have on now. :D 1-2 years in the future.

edit again, I don't want to triple post. I looked deeper into it and the dyno that the shop that makes the headers uses is a dyno jet, so that solves that.

K screw it i'm posting again...

Apparently the stock numbers I was thinking of were also on a dyno jet dyno, so the 210-220 I thought we ran stock would be even lower on the dyno dynamics.

So to clarify (yet again), I didn't only gain like 10-15whp from the i/h/e, probably more like 20-30?

That would be a fair assumption.
