So Cal is Burning.

Well its fire season again and orange county is burning once again. This year is really bad something like 250,000 people only about 15 minutes from me have been evacuated. Hopefully they dont evac me because that would suck ass. especially because my car is sitting in front of my garage and i am at work (wouldnt start this morning.)
If they evacuate my area do you think they would let me bring in a tow truck to get my car out of there, or maybe bring some people to help push start it? LOL

Some of the fires they are saying wont be fully contained until holloween. At least your not flying in, the winds are horrible and would make for a really rough flight.

Wow, that's a pretty shitty situation. Hopefully everything will turn out ok for you. I'm glad I don't live there, all the earthquakes, landslides and fires and such.

Exactly, I don't understand what all the hype is with living in CA. Between the fires, mudslides, earthquakes, pollution/smog, fake people(in all senses of the term), crime, crazy traffic, and cost of living, what is the draw?

I've been there many times, and after the initial amazement at the amount of $$ there(cars/houses..), it just plain sucks. For most people who live like non millionaires, it's a crappy place to live.

Re: So Cal is Burning.

yeah, i hear a lot "well you get paid more down there" In actuallity we dont. I remember when i lived in MN i would always say, if i made 52,000 a year i would be living good... then i came to california making more then that and still living paycheck to paycheck pretty much. Rent is insane, gas is expensive, everything is more expensive.
To live in my house its $2000 per month, plus all utilities. luckly no car payment. but to have money to save and shit is near impossible. Plus sometime i would like to ask my gf to marry me, and thats when shit is going to get really tight, hence why im building my car as much as i can before that happens.

I live in oceanside. It is smoky everywhere you look 360 degrees. The closest fire to me is in San Marcos, its like 15 minutes away. My school in Carlsbad closed early today and I guess all schools in sd county are closed tomorrow. I heard the fires in Malibu traveled 14 miles in two hours.

Good news is the surf is up. We're seeing 7' waves....The pic is my car with my 9'6" long-board on top.

7 miles/hour fire. I could outrun it for a little while on foot.

yeah the car is now running, It was a bad starter lucky i had a second sitting in the garage, now the car is in my sight and can easily be moved if need be. The dogs are at the house but my roomate is home.
I just went outside for a smoke and everything looks a little crazy, you see lots of brown smoke and the sun looks really orange which causes everything to look orange.

Be careful Tom. I hope you don't end up being one that is evacuated. :(
