First photoshoot ever, and with my new camera!

Well, I bit the bullet, and went out and spent a big chunk of my money on a new camera setup. I figured I wanted some good practice with it over the winter, so when I finished my car over the spring, then I'd be able to really show it off. So, I went tonight to a mall, and shot a few pics. Keep in mind, these are the first shots I've taken. Constructive criticism is welcomed!

I will also add that the photos have IN NO WAY been modified, other then sizing them down from the 37000x 3400 pixels they where at!

Nice deal, it takes awesome pics. Where were those taken at?
You should have driven your car onto the curb in front of that fountain and take some pics. it would have come out great.

What kind of camera is it?

They look good for your first time going out for a shoot. Keep up the good work!

For low light shots like you were taking a tripod will help make your pictures really sharp and not blurry.

turn on steady shot or get a tripod.

it was Katelyn's car. It's at the fountains in MG, and I have a tripod, but she has it for photo class.
The water is supposed to be blurry, as that's what I had the shutter speed set for.

Well the water is blurry but so are the bricks. Tpunx, that's in Maple Grove Arbor Lakes area. That foutain is below road level haha. you have to walk down steps to get to it aka no way to get a car there. Sweet pics overall though swift, but imo photoshop is your friend

The water is supposed to be blurry. Hence shutter speed settings. I'll get the tri-pod back, and then work on taking better ones.

They aren't horribly blurry, I've seen worse but we're just saying they could be better.

What shutter speed did you take these at? Anything slower than 1/60 usually has a bit of blur too it, unless you're super super still.

I had the shutter open for around 1 second on most, some 2 seconds (didn't post those) and then a few sub-second shots. I found that with the lighting, about 1-2 seconds allowed the camera to suck in what little light existed at the time (hence why the sky looked blue with Kate's car, and not black as night, when we went out to take the photos)

What kind of camera? It looks to me like you need a little work on the comp, www.thephotoforum.com has a lot of really knowledgable members that can help you on specifics.

So far so good, dude. You absolutely need a tripod for low light pictures, there is no way around that. Post processing (Photoshop, etc.) is where your pictures truly shine, and once you're interested/serious in that you will want to start saving your pictures in raw format.

Some nice photos there. Low light is hard to take with out the camera moving.

As for Raw Format. All Digital SLR do the raw format. But I never seen non-SLR save in that format. I have a Cannon A630 nice camera. Takes some great photos. What did you pick up?

They did turn out well, I will have to give you back the tripod for this weekend so we can try it again. But there is a good DoF on a few of them and the motion ones are very good for not having a tripod, but this week you can get better ones...downtown?
