Mechanical Apptitude Test

Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
Wow. I'm half way through. Gotta take a break. lol!
|
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
I took one in votec when I was in high school, scored 99% back in the day. Only 86% now, darn.

Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
That was a quick little test there. 94%
|
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
88%, I suck.
|
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
I got an 86% too :( damn you electricity!
|
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
94% after two 16oz coors lights. But it did take me 5 seconds to find the % key.
|
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
I haven't taken it yet, but so far 'Style has a higher average than S2ki does! LOL
|
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
94%
|
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
Got my butt whipped with 84%. The pulleys messed me up. Wasn't sure on that 3 bulb question with a pathway around the middle bulb either.
|
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
After thinking about it more I think the pulleys and levers owned me.
|
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
yeah, electrical kinda ownd me and one with pulleys, i got 82%, so thats 9 wrong..
butwhatahay i still passed and have room for improvement |
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
Meh, 90%, thought I'd do better.
|
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
Crap, 82%. I think that question 48 about how air is pushed into a cylinder on a naturally aspirated motor is wrong.

I answered suction though because I figured the test was like forest gump -"stupid is as stupid does". and I was confused about the pulleys a bit too. |
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
well ive never taken a test like this, so i didnt do well on the electrical stuff. but i have a question about the gears.
there are a couple questions that say if gear A is spinning at 100 rpm, how fast is gear b spinning... how would you calculate that without knowing the diameter of either one?? without knowing the numbers, you dont know if the drawing is to scale. so almost any answer could be correct. how else could you figure it out? count the number of teeth on the gears? i call OUTRAGE on this test haha..... 72% FAIL :( :( :( |
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
They pretty much look like double the diameter.
Oh and after I posted, I figured out how to review the test. I got four wrong I think, and they were just dumb. |
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
Count the teeth on the gears, the small ones were 10 teeth and the big ones were 20 teeth, so the ratios were 2:1 or 1:2. Also how do you review your test?

Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
I failed too with 78%. :( The gear thing is easy, you just count the teeth. There were twice the number of teeth on the big gear versus the small gears.
I sucked on the electricity ones and pulling weights with pulleys. Argh. I guess I better stick with computer programming. And to my own defense I've never taken an engineering class of any kind. later, Curt |
Re: Mechanical Apptitude Test
You can review after you finish with the little magnifying glass icon in the bar above where the score sheet is. (on the right).
And it's funny that I did as well as I did because I drew on some things I learned in my highschool physics class (from about 8 years ago), electrical circuit stuff my dad showed me when making crossovers for my speakers(I didn't really learn about that stuff as an ME student for two years, lol) and then just general knowledge I've gained from dinking with cars and cruising forums. The gear thing was easy for me, but I did just guess that they made them 1/2 the size as the big one, just for reducing the time needed for the test. I have no patience to count gear teeth. heh. |
