heat?

I noticed when driving home last night that my under-hood temps kept making my cf hood smell like it was burning. I noticed it's getting rather hot, especially where the DNP mani sits. Anyone tried using some tacky heat shield stuff, or would nothing stick to these hoods? I'm looking for options as to what/where to get something to prevent the hood from melting, or coloring the clear/gel coat.

Re: heat?

Send the dnp out to have it ceramic coated. That might work?

Re: heat?

Or just buy some of the Techline coating yourself and just spray it in and out. It won't look as bling anymore but should really help with the temps. That is what I will be doing once my new manifold goes on.

Re: heat?

I would do a heat mat under the hood first, much easier. It should stick to most anything. That manifold does stick up pretty high.

Ceramic coating FTW!!

Re: heat?

yea, i'll be ordering/placing that thermo-tec matting on tonight at work.

Damn steve, your car has now given mine a good diet! seats, hood, i'm now under 3000lbs with me in it! I lose another 10 lbs with that stock 1g intake, once my JMF/direct port setup comes next week!

Remember what days?

I never found any heat shield stuff. Looks like I need to order it from summit, and drive for a few days as it is, till the summit order get's in.

I ended up finding some stuff at napa. I guess we will see tonight once I know how it works. I need to hurry though, as that rolled awd laser is getting dropped off at my friend's place. Free tranny for me!

Man, give me the hood before you ruin it. :)

I need a tranny to for the 1G also, it doesn't shift worth a crap over 6000 RPMs.

My bro has a decent core, it drives but pops out of 1st gear. Wanna trade for some dyno/tuning time? :)

Re: heat?

you could also heat wrap the mani and downpipe. It helps to reduce engine temps. I think you could even get heat wrap at checker or some place to that extent.

Re: heat?

Cut a hole in the hood above the manifold. It's the easiest method.

To bad your "boat" runs 11.9's on pump gas. Fun club isn't it? 11's on "pump"

Yay to boats!
