New Motor problems...

Hey guys, i got done swapping out my old motor with a JDM Cyclone motor, but I ran into a couple problems, and I'm stuck as to what to do. The motor starts, but it's a really crappy start up, it jumps to 4k at the start than drops to 1k rpm, after that it idles really crappy for about 5-10 seconds than dies. While it's doing that, there is a loud whistle from around the intake manifold, I checked for air leaks, but can't seem to find any from around that area....or else I'm not just checking hard enough...I used a timing gun to check the timing and it's a little odd....Everything will be good, but after a couple cylcle's the timing marks start to jump like crazy. I fixed the CAS to the point where it doesn't jump too much but the timing is better than before. Should I redo my timing? what are any suggestions as to what the loud whistle is? Anything would help, Thanks.

Are you trying to use the Cyclone intake manifold?

Are you grounding the wire to check timing? Did you do an actual boost leak test?

No, I have the regular USD Manifold on there. Will that cause a problem? I've seen the same setup I have on other DSM's as well.

Yes, one to positive another to ground, and the third to the spark plug wire. no, I haven't done an atcual one, it's been about 2 weeks since i've been home to touch the car, but I will be there this weekend, I will probably conduct one than.

No, there is a wire on the car that has to be grounded out so it won't adjust timing. VFAQ.com

sounds like intake leak to me. check all of your hoses. try spraying carb cleaner around intake mani and hoses. your idle goes up if you have leak.
