Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
First off, i wanna say thanks to Matt D. for the food and grilling.
Good time, great weather. Track was alright-bad for traction, i didn't have too much of a problem not like the grease ball they call BIR wed. night drags. First run Me, Sam, 80lbs+ tool bag, laptop(in bag with other stuff), 1 gallon of water. R/T .540 60' 1.724 1/8 7.9 MPH 89.32 1/4 12.33 MPH 112.83 ------------------- I guess they announced after my run that you have to run a 14.0 or slower to carry a passenger, oh well. 2nd Run, Me solo from now on. RT .486 60' 1.79 1/8 7.9 MPH 89.34 1/4 12.272 MPH 115.16 ------------- At this point i am thinking my car is gonna run a best of 12.1 or 12.2 today, maybe a 12.0, but not really. -12.0 -12.1 Skip to end of day, realize that i need to shift earlier,so i am down to about 6300rpm. Need more top end. 60' 1.7 1/4 11.997 MPH 116.53 Did this twice in a row, needless to say i am stoked about it. Definitely made my mind on what a perfect DSM daily setup would be, E16G/FP18G, built 2.0, cams, E85. Thats if my new one goes wrong. My car for those that don't know: B16G, spike to 24 settles to 17, E85, FMIC, 880s, FP race mani, Snow tires. Car weighs 3280 with me in it. :drive: |
Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
It was a good day, seemed like the track was decent and the weather was great. Good company, good food (thanks Matt) and fast cars what could be better. Here's a crappy video I took with my camera on the 11.99. Sorry I didn't know how to zoom.

Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
Nice job getting into the 11's! I think you will change your mind of a perfect DSM when you get the new setup in :D

Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
Damn! Those are some good times out of that setup! Nicely done.

Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
Congrats on the 11s Brownman!!!!!

Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
Good job Brownman!
Sorry I couldn't go, my Evo took some damage in a parking lot while I was in Best Buy. Needless to say the asshole didn't leave any info. I had the bumper apart today as I am modifing the crash bumper for a JDM rear bumper. |
Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
My day didn't go as well as Brownman's. I spent the whole day fighting for traction. I was spinning the tires to the 1/8 mile mark. then picking up 40 MPH in the back 1/2 of the track.
Best of the day 12.66 @ 124mph best MPH of 125 on a low 13 second pass. But it was a good time and nothing broke so it was a good day. I'll have video's up tomarrow. |
Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
Congrats turbotalon on hitting 11's. I hit my first 11 second at the rock last October. It's a great feeling. That was my goal so I really didn't have any desire to do any racing this year.
--- and dam! 12.66 @ 125. That's some bad ass spinning you had going on there :D |
Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
Nice work brownman! Great times, now get some cams in that thing!

Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
Thanks everyone, it was nice to meet up with everyone, i think we inspired Nick to stop the part out!
Well almost, he is too smart for that. Well my plans for the future are not as gung-ho as they were, I am basically gonna end up running the 2.0L till it dies, I need to re-torque the head studs as I am pushing coolant and that is the last thing to try to fix it. The new turbo will go on, but I have the cams, so hopefully I will have a nice powerband with that for a while, probably not as responsive as I want, we will just have to wait and see. This is all part of the fact that I have been unemployed for 2 months, need to go back to school and need to pay for my house, on a good note I have a PT job setup for full time when i go back to school and things are looking up, it will just take time and pushed everything back a bit. But don't worry cause next season there should be 2 brown's terrorizing the town! I will keep everyone updated and start a project thread, its actually quite interesting considering I have improved a full second every year, so you know what that means!!! |
Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
It was a good time, congrats to Aaron for breaking into the 11s. As much as I dislike drag racing I still enjoy hanging out and watching friends race.

Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
Here's the info from my races.
1st time ever doing a 1/4 mile drag: R/T: .471 60 ft: 2.153 1/4: 14.019 MPH: 97.69 2nd time: R/T: .411 60 ft: 2.004 1/4: 13.759 MPH: 101.84 3rd time (missed 2nd gear pretty bad): R/T: .313 60 ft: 2.099 1/4: 14.173 MPH: 98.55 Overall it was a good experience, I had to learn everything that morning about how to approach the lights and when to go, I was really nervous every time. The last run was elimination and I didn't realize one side went first (I was racing a stock-ish truck), so he went a full 3 seconds before me which really threw me off too. I think if I learn how to launch before my next visit I should be able to get 1/2 second quicker overall. I'm happy I got over 100mph though. |

|

Its mostly my car spinning all day but Aaron's two fastest passes are on there too. |
Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results

Re: Sept. 22nd Rock falls results
Some fast domestics there that day. I used to just hammer them guys every time running 12's, looks like some have stepped up their game.
