Asking if the car is forsale

Is it rude to ask someone if their car is forsale?
I saw a very good project car. It looks like an old woman or man drives it (very little) and it has no rust.

I wanted to leave a note or something to ask the person if they would sell it.

My girlfriend was with me at the time and she said it would be rude to ask and pulled me away so I wouldn't.

However she may have been not wanting me to get another project car....

Should I go back and leave a note still? Or would leaving a note still be rude? Stalking the car would be kind of weird...

I know lots of people that would see a car they would buy and leave a note, worst case, they don't call. Go for it.

Yeah, just drop a note on the windsheild saying you are looking for a car like that and are wondering if they are interested in selling.

I am not thinking of selling my car, but if someone offered, I would definately consider it.

I had people ask to buy my Cutlass with a note a few times and I took it as a compliment. it also showed me that the potential buyer would really appreciate the car. Of course when I needed to sell it no one came asking. That's how it goes though. I'd just leave the note. It's not rude.

About 2 years ago I saw a talon sitting in someone yard on my way to school. It sat in the same place for like 6 months. I told a friend about it and we went and knocked at the door and they said it was not "on the market" but still for sale. We could have bought it but we didnt. And the people were nice and didnt think it was wierd.

If you do it the right way, there is nothing wrong with it. Besides, its always nice to know someone else likes your car so much they want to buy it!

I've knocked on house doors looking for owners of project type cars in the pas. I'd say do it.

Everything is for sale for the right price. You'll never know if you don't ask.

Asking is how I got the black conquest that was outside of the shop. It was at a little repair shop near my house. I talked to the shop owner and he said it was his buddy's, and they will be working on it.

So one year later I asked again.

And one year later I asked again.

Year three when the shop was moving, I got the car. :P

Then it sat outside my shop for three years until I sold it. :P
