Clutch Issue (slipping but new)
1990 Plymouth Laser FWD Turbo:
It feels like the clutch isn't even starting to engage until the pedal is ALL THE WAY up. It's been getting progressively worse and it's starting to slip even fully engaged. As I stated I THINK it's a pretty new clutch and was engaging extremely well about a week ago. I know with a Subaru you just adjust a cable, but these are hydrolic. Peter told me how to adjust the master cylinder already, I haven't gotten a chance to do this yet. I guess the ultimate question I'm asking is if there could be a major problem or if I adjust the clutch so it engages sooner that it should be fixed? Anyway thanks for the help in advance, peace! -Shawn |
Re: Clutch Issue (slipping but new)
DSM? EVO? Corolla?
Assuming DSM, I'd adjust the master cylinder for a lower engagement point and go from there. |
Re: Clutch Issue (slipping but new)
You can try adjusting the rod that goes to the master cylinder (way up under the dash between the gas pedal and brake). That might be it, but it sounds like your clutch might just be toast.

Re: Clutch Issue (slipping but new)
I 2nd what Jet said. Try adjusting the clutch master cylinder rod first.

Re: Clutch Issue (slipping but new)
It would be epic if it were a Corolla :) But yeah it's a DSM, sorry I'll adjust the first post was trying to post quick on my lunch break.
Thanks guys, I'll do that asap and hopefully that'll fix it. |
