Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
I tried to load a new MAP onto my AEM and it wont connect. I am using a serial connection and it was connected to the AEM and the computer with a solid connection. ECU has to be getting power because the fuel pump runs and the engine cranks over. I tried to uninstall the AEM software(I have been having trouble with it) but that did not work either. Anyone know what could be wrong or what to look for???

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
Do you happen to be using one of those USB - Serial converters? Some of them are worthless and plain don't work.

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
try disconnecting then reconnecting the battery.

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
Try connecting first to bring the ECU online, then try loading the map to it. I had an issue with this before as well.

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
This is what I have done. Its a serial connection not the USB. I read the USB thing. I tried yesterday AM then disconnected the battery and tried in the PM and same thing. I tried opening the MAP and I tried Opening just AEMPRO. Im going to try a new serial cable just in case today.

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
Check the pins on the cable for any bent ones, otherwise I would check your port settings on your laptop. Either that or the AEM is fried.

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
can the AEM be fried if the fuel pump runs? and acces come on?
|
Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
Odds are the aem isn't fried. What version fireware are you using?

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
What error message is it saying when you try to connect?
|
Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
"failure connecting to ECU"
|
Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
If you change the cable and that doesn't fix it then I would think the serial port on either the AEM or your laptop is fried. There really isn't a whole lot to connecting. Have you made sure there are no broken wires/connectors?

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
OK, downloaded the program on my other laptop and it connected. Im going to try and redownload the program(cuz like I said i have been having troubles with it) and see if that works.

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
I just had this earlier this week. Thing is it also didn't kick the fuel pump on. I swapped the AEM with Mo's and then put it in and it worked fine. I'm 99% sure it was the ignition switch in my case. But if your fuel pump kicks on, it's gotta be the connection. Try someone else's laptop with AEMPro installed.

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
I did and it worked on the other laptop I have. BUT the computer that works the battery BLOWS(10 min max). So is it just my computer or is there a way that the connection(serial port) can be "turned off" on a computer?
|
Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
Yes, there is. Right click on my computer, then on hardware, then click device manager.
Go maybe 3/4 down the list and find "Ports". click that once, if there are any error signs you can see that quickly. You should have "communications port 1" or something. Right click that, go to properties. You can turn on the port from there and change some settings. |
Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
hmm, Its turned on and there doesnt seem to say there is a problem.

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
went to go try and start the car again and the fuel pump does not run and the gauges dont light up anymore. I tried to connect to it with the computer and I get this...
Online Parity Error Framing Error Offline Online Parity Error... It continues like that. Anyone know anything about this? |
Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
New problem, anyone?

Re: Laptop Wont Connect To AEM!!!!
OK this is fucked up! It still wouldnt start but my gauges were dim lit except the serial gauge. I went to plug the serial gauge into the AEM and then I turned the key to on and everything work. If I unhook the gauge nothing works. WTF!
