Im Burnin it up

So other than thermostat and water pump what could be making me over heat because i just took the water pump out for no reason and now have to put it back together

Head gasket blown.

Re: Im Burnin it up

My car overheated due to a small leak at the lines to the throttle body. Our cars are very sensitive to small leaks.

Fans that arent running properly, low coolant, bad headgasket, etc.

Welcome to my world. There's a ton of things it could be

Radiator Cap
Leaky Lines
Headgasket
Air Bubbles
Low on Coolant
Fans not coming on
Radiator leaking, external fins covered in crap, clogged, not enough flow to it

I had a problem with my 2G for a while, and it turned out the fans were shutting off!

well she did it again no problem getting to work (fan now on a switch) but coming home from work i had to pull into a gas station 3 blocks from home when steam started coming out from under the hood fan turns on no leaks good water pump no air bubbles till now... she overheats while going down the freeway so i just don't get it... and if i don't get it soon there might be lots of parts for sale I.E the car

Headgasket or radiator cap. Try the cap first.

Re: Im Burnin it up

Check the rubber coolant lines running to and from the turbo also. Sometimes they are swollen and will only leak under boost.

How's the coolant mix?

i have the turbo water lines in a short loop I.E Jason the guy i bought it from http://www.dsmstyle.com/forums/images/icons/icon8.gif so coolent ratio should be 50/50 I'm down to headgasket or maybe just not enough flow to the radiator

I don't know if I'm reading this wrong, but having the turbo in the loop does not affect the coolant mix. I'm talking about the ratio of coolant to water.

the coolant mix is 50/50

Re: Im Burnin it up

i know that removing the emissions can cause a rough idle but could the it cause my car to over heat because as far s i can tell i have done everything new thermostat water pump headgasket fluids but still running down the road i still over heat and i just cant figure out why

i just got my head back from headwerks with a full gasket kit and everything no change in my problem so im just out of ideas

Re: Im Burnin it up

Have you used any JB crap in radiator? That could cause shitty flow to internals.

Re: Im Burnin it up

Removing the Emissions shouldn't have an effect on temperature. My car doesn't have any of that crap, and the stock gauge has never gotten past the half way mark. Even with a shitty stock radiator, and a single 12" slim fan sitting in traffic on a 95* day.

Just a heads up, my car has seen over 230* and still not gone past the half way point. The stock water temp gauge sucks.

so i just looked at the pic that i posted which was a from when the previous owner was selling it he switched it to the stock not even an inch radiator and i just noticed i think i might just need a new radiator also how can i get my car to idea less rough since i removed the emissions crap
