Re: boosting on stock guts

This is probably the 2nd most asked question, right after 'how do I hook up a mbc?'

No one's going to be able to answer this but you and your datalogger.

To start, how about some details about the car: what turbo? what other mods? what type of fuel management? what type of fuel?

This may sound hypocritical, but otherwise it's like asking a reeeeaaaly slutty cheerleader who's drunk how many...ahh, nevermind, just give us more info!

Do some more research please.

But we will def. need more info to answer your question.
Stock internals rated to 400hp, i would say 350hp on our rollers to be safe, that is what i am shooting for with a 155k motor and shitty/uneven compression.

1g or 2g? I ran 26-27 psi on my small rod '99 stock shortblock. But I ran a conservative tune. NO KNOCK, detonation will break parts. I have read/heard of 400-500hp on a big rod 1g, but I have not seen it personally. The tune is the key.

Map has a stock 6-bolt engine running 450ish WHP

Nash ran over 500 whp on his 1g big rod/2g piston combo and 40 psi.

Re: boosting on stock guts

I'd say 15-20 psi would be safe for ya.

Well yea 15-20 is safe, but it's definitely not the "max safe" like the first post asked. Shit 5psi is even safer if your looking to be nice to the motor. Again, this is a tough question considering the shape of the motor and the modifications that are on it.

Re: boosting on stock guts

You should be good to the high 20's with just some head studs.

Oh yes he did.

Re: boosting on stock guts

With that list I am sure you already have head studs in? If so you are good to go.

Re: boosting on stock guts

I didn't see fuel management anywhere in your list. What are you using? An AFC will severely limit the amount of boost you can run on pump. DSMLink or AEM should let your run 22-24psi on pump with that turbo, but just like I stand behind my original answer:

No one can answer this except you and your datalogger.
