Ridiculous that the city or county even allowed such a stupid event like that to happen. Idiot driver should have known that their is no traction on a highway like that. They should only be run on treated surfaces (track).

I found a some video with close ups of the car. I thought it was a pro stock at first until I saw still photos of the car. It's actually a Pro mod. They produce 2500+ hp. Not that it matters but it just makes more sense that it broke traction so easily like that.

It's tragic. That car was asking for trouble on regular pavement. I'm no expert about big fuck'n drag slicks, but it just doesn't seem like a good idea to have something spin that fast on an non preparred surface. I mean hell, say the tire blows for some wild reason, that rubber would have killed people as well.

A very sad day.

Reminds me of Red Rock when I'm racing some big block El Camino and I'm flying by hundreds of kids leaning out to see what's going on as I pass at 90mph. I never went back there again. I'm glad they're strict about that stuff at the Rock.
