cheap tools?
Anybody know where to get some cheap tools? I want a torque wrench and a larger sized ratchet.

Re: cheap tools?
Harbor Freight is the home of cheap tools. But I don't know if you really want to cheap out on a torque wrench.

Re: cheap tools?
Dont go cheap on Torque wrenches... Search around.

Re: cheap tools?
+1 for Harbor Freight and not cheaping out on a torque wrench.

Re: cheap tools?
Do not go cheap on a torque wrench.

Re: cheap tools?
If you want to play you have to PAY. With that being said, "CRAFTSMAN"

Re: cheap tools?

Re: cheap tools?

Re: cheap tools?
I wouldnt cheap out on tools especially a torque wrench if you are doing things like torqing down motor internals!

Re: cheap tools?
Check Ebay for used tools. Snap-on, Matco, etc pop up for cheap, also check out pawn america. Craftsman is as cheap as I would go for a torque wrench, but Harbor freight or Northern tool care some ok hand tools.

You add a "the" to that sentence and shouldn't have. |

I would watch ebay for a snap-on torque wrench, something that can be calibrated and certified. |
Re: cheap tools?
I dont think Harbor Freight is all crap... I used their impact sockets for a loong time and never had an issue. I would not, on the other hand, buy a torque wrench from them.

Re: cheap tools?
For at-home DIYers I think Craftsman is a great choice. Their durability and strength seem decent, but when something does break they exchange it on the spot with no questions asked unlike many other "lifetime warranty" tools sold at other stores.

Re: cheap tools?
If you want really cheap go to harbor freight. But like stated above get a good torque wrench. If you are going to buy a shitty torque wrech you might as well not use one at all. I just went to harbor and bought a set of drill bits(115 piece for $40). I realize that you get what you pay for but Ill use the drill bits like 10 times and its worth it to me.

Re: cheap tools?
And also its pointless for someone not in the trade to buy snap on. Lets say one breaks, what are you going to do? hunt down a shop that will tell you when the snap on guy comes and get it in a week? With craftsman u take it to sears and call it a day.

Re: cheap tools?
I have Harbor Frieght impact sockets as well (the pittsburg ones) and have worked perfectly fine. I think some tools are ok to cheap out on when you're just doing stuff at home, and don't run a business, like flat head screwdrivers, my pry bar, those little dental pick tools, flashlight, and their gear wrenches are pretty decent. But certain things, like a torque wrench, or anything that's used for some sort of precision, I would look elsewhere.
