Well a Mitsubushi sent a letter of recall for
94-98 glaants, 95-99 eclipse, 96-99 spyders Reason for notice: Mitsushitty motor sales of america inc has determined that a defect which relates to vehicle safety exists in certain models mentioned above. The lower lateral arm ball joints may be subject to premature wear as a result of water intrusion. This leakage could possibly be from a cut or torn boot or from leakage at other areas of the ball joint. Should moisture enter the ball joint, extraordinary wear could occur. In the worst case, the ball joint could separate from the steering knuckle. This could result in loss of steering control and cause a crash without prior warning. Contact your Satan for further information and scheduling an apointment, it will only take 20 minutes to inspect and if Satan needs to repair it then it might take as long as 2 hours depending on how busy Satan is. If you have any trouble getting your vehicle repaired promptly and at no charge, please inform Mitsushitty by calling 888-648-7820 monday - saturday 6am to 5pm PST -E |
Same deal for talons?
you guys will most likely be getting a letter from Eagle not from Mitsu.. just hold on your horses, you get to take the back seat for being different!
If you have a mitsubishi made car but not a mitsubishi labeled car, it might take months to years for the recal to reach you. Sometimes the recall is issues on both makes/models at the same time. And you'll need to take it to a Dodge dealer to get it fixed, as most mitsu's won't honor the recall (at least that was my case with my t-case recall).
that recall was started over 2 years ago. my buddy ryan had his replaced nearly two years ago under recall in his 95 eclipse, and you just finally got a notice, OUCH!!!
I had that same recall done on my 1995 Talon too like 2 years ago. They will check yours over and if it needs the recall they will do it, if it doesn't need it they won't.
CRAIG |
I believe before it was only on the 95 cars.
Had it done to my '97 Spyder and my '99 GSX. They just install new arms. Ever since they were done, they squeak like hell on both cars when going over bumps.
so if it ain't broke don't fix it?
or should i make sure they are broken so that they can put new one's on? -E |

Enes, maybe wait until they do break to bring the car in. (break as in the boots splitting)
Its easy to tell if its been done or not. Look for white rubbery coating on the lower end of the arm(joint).
I had my Talon's Lateral Arms replaced last year and the bottom of the new joint has a white, rubberish coating(to keep out the water). Mine were not worn at all. I just had them replaced because i didn't know how long the car would stay running. |

Bring it to me at Metro and I'll make sure they get replaced with new ones. ;) |
ghettostyle's car may be suffering from this. Whenever you turn the steering wheel, the front right tire makes a loud squeling sound. A local mechanic lubed it up and said he may need the balljoint replaced within the next year. He said the grease keeps coming out and the boot is torn. The recall was already out for 95 talons right?
no get it fixed asap because its one of those things that when it does break, Watch out, put your car out of a commission for a couple of days at the least.
be safe get it fixed ever see a ball joint or a lower arm blow out at about 70 mph? or at 15 mph even |

I know, I have seen cars where the wheel has fallen off. We do not want to take it to mitsu or chrysler unless it is a recall matter. One asshole is enough.
TOO LATE!! already happen to me about a few months ago, i got my mitsu dealership to pay for it becasue they never sent me a recall letter. the accident damn near killed me.
