About the gt35R
I like reading up on stuff and making my own assumptions, so I was wondering if I had a GT35R T3 .63 ar with the anti surge cover, will it still surge? Also is an SC61 basically a 60-1 in T3 footprint?

Re: About the gt35R
An SC61 is about one size bigger than a 60-1 wheel.

Re: About the gt35R
yup SC61 has a 61mm GT40 (or GT35R if you will) compressor wheel. With the S cover & anti-surge ports you should be fine.

Re: About the gt35R
ok got it now 60= 60mm 61 = 61mm but i was wondering what does the 1 stand for in 60-1?

60-1 doesn't = 60mm the 60-1 is another turbo that it's trim happens to come out to 60. "-1" for differentiation(word?) I believe. |
Re: About the gt35R
The trim of a turbo is:
On the wheel itself take the measurements and do the math. Trim = (minor diameter / major diameter) ^2 * 100 |

Re: About the gt35R
The 60-1 is an old ass T04B compressor wheel. Not the more efficient wheel ever at high boost. Not bad for a car that runs around 15psi and has a fair amount of displacement(6 or 8 cylinder) or has a good head like a VTEC car. The SC61 uses the 61mm compressor wheel from the GT35R. For most cars, that 61mm comp wheel will not be any laggier than a 60-1, but it will have more power potential. You definately want the anti-surge cover if you have a 2.0l.

Re: About the gt35R
50-trim ~48 lb/min
54-trim ~45 lb/min 57-trim ~49 lb/min 60-trim ~50 lb/min 60-1 ~57 lb/min 61mm/GT35R ~62-65 lb/mn You could probably have any of the 50 to 60 trim comp wheels and what exhaust wheel/exhaust housing you had would make a bigger difference in the power if produced and its lag. The Evo 9 16Gs flow some rediculous amount(for a damn 16g) like 42 lb/min. Going to a 20G on those cars doesn't gain all that much power. |
Re: About the gt35R
Its always good to hear people say "ya I got a T3/T4 turbo" and everything has to be an R to be cool. Sizing a turbo can make or break an entire setup, figure out when you want full boost, how much power you want, and how much money you want to spend.

Re: About the gt35R
Yeah i totally hate it when some guy comes up to you and says "I have a T3/T4 turbo!" then you ask them what trim it is and they say "umm.. i dunno" ok then how much does it flow? "um... a lot" :slaps head:
My personal goal is to max out the 50 trim before i even think about upgrading to a bigger turbo. Hopefully i should be able to max it out with my current setup. then its time to go bigger and try and max that turbo out (whichever turbo that may be, GT42 type R FTW or thumper type R) |
Re: About the gt35R
I personally don't like the BB turbos-more to plumb, more to go wrong/leak. Also, it's not worth it for the few extra hundo it costs to pay for it. I was hoping that my smaller .58 a/r t4 67 would spool up quicker, and give me a decent powerband. I'm still working out details on it, like a bad clutch, but we will see what actually happens with it. I will use my old scm61 setup as comparison.
