I'm in China.
Hi!
Here's like 4 pics out of near 300 so far, and it's been a week. good thing I've got two 1 gig cards and a computer to download to. Bad thing is the slow internet. Here's a couple pics of the streets of Beijing: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/DSC00134.JPG and this is quite normal: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/DSC00139.JPG And here I am at the great wall: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/DSC00099.JPG It was steep at some parts: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/DSC00101.JPG I will get more online while here, and a bunch when I get back. I'm staying in the city of Chengdu, it's kindof in the middle and about the same latitude as houston, so it's warm here. It's about 10,500,000 people and the boots and bullet proof vests that american soldiers wear in iraq etc. are made here. beijing was tall apartment buildings almost as far as the eye can see and Chengdu is pretty much the same except there is constant fog and haze. I think the furthest one can see is about 10 miles (i'd estimate). But it's cool. there's a lot of poor people and a lot of medium/middle class people, and an increasing number of rich/wealthy people. I get stared at everywhere I go. I feel like a black person in montana. But I'm not intimidated because people here aren't violent and even if they did start something, I'm twice as big (and I'm not big, lol). btw, there are quite a lot of good looking babes here. probably no pics of them though because my GF would be mad. |

Re: I'm in China.
Sweet. The company I work for just opened a sales office near Shanghai and are working on starting production and distribution of our products there, and we have a sister company there already as well. There's a chance I may get to go there within the next year to help set up the new office so I'm looking forward to that.

What are you in China for? Vacation? Very cool.... be sure to share more pictures when you return. :D

Re: I'm in China.
Where all are you going? My wife and I traveled around China a little bit back in the late 90s. She went to school in Tanjin for a semester. Tanjin is like the Detroit of China, but it is only about 60 miles from Beijing, so she took the train up there once in a while.

Re: I'm in China.
Thats really cool! I hope your having lots of fun, make sure to eat some good food while your over there (but stay away from nasty fish stuff ewww)
|
Re: I'm in China.
I'm just here basicaly for vacation and to learn the language better (if I can). Some of the fish is good, but none of the food here is procesed like for you fat americans, haha! j/k. All the bones are still in the food. Just have to work to get your food. I might get skinny here except everyone wants to take me out to eat and then they insist non-stop for me to eat more. usually I oblige them. :)

Re: I'm in China.
Nice. I'm sure I'll end up in China here in the next few years with the amount of Power Plants they are constructing there. How's the food?

Re: I'm in China.
What a sweet vacation spot!
Take tons of pics and put them up when you get back! |
Re: I'm in China.
Heh, it's great here. If you go anywhere besides the big attractions like the great wall or tienanmen square, you get long stares from everyone, here in Chengdu EVERYone stares. I have seen a few other white people around here and everytime I wave or smile and they do the same. No such luck with Chinese people. We went to this restaurant and the entire staff sat and stared at me the whole time we were eating. I took a bite and said, "MMMmmmmmm" realy loud and they laughed, then when we left I said, "goodbye everyone!" in Chinese. it was funny.
Today we went to see this "international festival of intangible cultural (something or other)" and I was interviewed twice because I am white, lmao. I stick out like a sore thumb, but it's neat because I like attention. Some of the stares are a little too hard though. As for the plane flight, I recommend continental, they haev good food, and a lot of it. I was never hungry. TV in every seat too! c ya! |
Re: I'm in China.
The staring would be uncomfortable thats for sure, you should stare right back at them and squint. lol

Re: I'm in China.
Where else are you going? We were getting followed by some government travel weirdos when we up in Datong, but we lost them by switching hotels. Have you been riding the trains around? And are they still like straight out of Drunken Master where people are literally jumping in through the windows to get on and get a seat. We had to stand for 5 hours on one train trip in the middle of the night in the connecting area between 2 train cars because there wasn't even room to sit on the floor.
|
Re: I'm in China.
Well, I haven't ridden on trains, but busses are like that. Just filled to the brim. You gotta think - there are a billion more people here than in the U.S.
I won't be going too many other places, but probably for sure this place called jio jai go (that's probably completely wrong in Pinyin, but that's how it sounds) and it's the lake that Jet Li and the other dude faught on in Hero (where they were flying around dipping the swords and stuff). This place has fog every day, pretty much never a clear sky, and not because of pollution either. I'll try and get more pics today. |
