Turbo Turd needs help
Ok got the tsi running today but it runs like its real rich and has no throttle response. between about 3500 and 4500 there is some power but the neon still blows it away. we pulled the plugs and theres slight carbon build up on them. The factory boost gauge shows 13-14 at 4000. Any Ideas on where to look next to fix it.
Specs: 90 tsi AWD 510cc injectors (I think? they are yellow maybee they are bigger than that? ) FMIC 14b turbo and 2.5" turbo back exhaust |
Re: Turbo Turd needs help
So you have bigger injectors but no fuel control? Of course it is going to be rich!!

Re: Turbo Turd needs help
yeah i figured that, lol i did not know if that little of an upgrade over stock would cause it to run like a turd.

Re: Turbo Turd needs help
How do you know you are pushing 14 PSI of a stock boost gauge? Get an after market gauge. It will help you in the long run. Where did you get your injectors from? Put your 450's back in and make sure the car runs fine stock before you start modding. Your first mod should be a boost gauge.

Re: Turbo Turd needs help
car came with the 510s, is the stock gauge that bad? i would assume it is somewhat accurate in the stock range of the turbo. otherwise why would they bother putting i in?

Re: Turbo Turd needs help
It's a dummy gauge, I believe it calculates boost based on air flow at the maf. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Turbo Turd needs help
Yep, the stock gauge has nothing to do with real boost, just airflow.

Re: Turbo Turd needs help
Stock Gauge is innacurate. Its just for oohs and aahs. You really need to get an aftermarket boost gauge.

Re: Turbo Turd needs help
oh, I didnt know thats how it was calculated. Theres a vac line that goes to a sensor on the drivers side firewall I just assumed it was for the gauge.

Re: Turbo Turd needs help
Get a logger and see what's going on. Probably just pig rich...these cars are pig rich from the factory, running bigger injectors w/o some sort of tune/fuel management is just going to make things worse.
