Potato Guns/ Air Cannon's
 

I dont know how many of you have ever built or gotten to fire a potato gun, but its endless fun and never stops entertaining me.

What i'm getting at is... Would anyone be up for constructing some potato/ air cannons to fire misc. objects such as mass quanities of paint balls, potatos, golf balls etc at down range targets and possibly having like a group get together to fire them off.

There are basically two types of firing power you can use combustable fuel and compressed air. I know there are a few people on here that like to over engineer everything to the max and build things. There is an unlimited supply of directions and ideas on the net. If it seems to dangerous AJ you can go ahead and delete this... Just throwing the idea out there.

In collage me and my roomate built one and shot Paul Bunyan in bemidji, Damn Ox Fucker got what he deserved.

lol Tom in "COLLAGE" you should have spent more time paying attention to the teachers.

Wow the more and more I look around online the possibilities are endless and I just can figure out if i want to shoot beer cans tennis balls galf balls or what. But i'm on my way to menards to buy everything. Since the first one I built 6 years ago was stolen.

Aquanet is THE potato gun fuel! Starter fluid works even better but is much harder on the gun.

I have two potato guns at home, one is PVC the other is metal pipe. My roomate and I have been tossing around the idea of making a paintball mortar based on a potato gun for quite some time now. We're just trying to decide what to use as a wadding inbetween the charge and balloon.

I made one out of a super soaker once. It was compact and you got 10+ shots out of a single potato.

don't mean to hijack the thread, but has anyone built a sparkler bomb? I have a computer case on video I blew up last summer, I'll post it in the video section. Anyway I'm building a super manly one this year, you guys should look it up on youtube.

LOL Sparkler Bomb's are alot more dangerous than potato cannons. Jesus christ do a gross or a bunch of them and OMG them are loud.

I've never messed with Potato Guns though. Only sparkler bombs.

Yeah, we had a thread on sparkler bombs a while back on here. I still have a few video's saved on my computer. My favorite thing to shoot is full pop cans, we put one through a junk car's window, that was awesome :D

We did the paintball one before, we took a rag or two and filled them with paintballs till they fit the barrel. Then shot my neighbor haha. Try peeled bananas at a car...

I still have enough material to build 6 or 7 potato guns. If anyone's interested, I could sell all the PVC and fittings for $20 a piece. I priced them out last year and everything total was $80 bucks.

Potatoe guns are the shit! I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I made one out of a rather large pill bottle and a grille ignitor. It was really cool until my friend put too much hair spray in it and it blew up in my hand.

The best one me and my friend made was out of PVC pipe. It fit tubes of caulking PERFECTLY. The BEST combo we ever found was using a grill ignitor, white lithium chain lube for fuel, and we put a valve core in the side of the chamber to pump a little air in to mix everything up and burn hotter and faster. We found one of the tubes ONCE, it was at least 300 yards away

Here is the pic of my buddy kneeling next to the gun I built today it was 64 dollars. Worth every f'n penny by the way. Started at 20 psi and shot a potato into a door panel of a car needless to say LARGE DENT. Put a potato down the barrel and losely shoved a small stuffed animal at the end of the barrel just cause, all we found was stuffing. It has a 2 inch barrel which is to big for a golf ball to fit snuggly but anyways rolled a ball down the barrel and shot that at 35 psi at a rear quarter panel of a merc. cougar and the golf ball shot a perfect hole threw the sheet metal. I found that air pressure is much more whicked and a hell of a lot cheaper and faster than hair spray. I'll try and get some video tomorrow. It has an interchangable barrel so i can shoot loaded soda cans or tennis balls.

Oh, one other thing. If you put a nail through the barrel at the bottom, you can shove whatever you want down there, and you don't gotta worry about it dropping into the chamber

I'll have to find the vid again, but I saw a tater gun that had a constant flame around the end of the gun. The goal was to start everythign that came out of the gun on fire, or light a fuse for exploding ammo. It didn't work all the time, but it was fuck'n sweet to see a wad of m-80s and shit get lit, and explode near a target.

This also remond me of the flame thrower super soaker and the vid of the kids playing with it in a garage.

I cant get enough of mine Been shooting it most of the morning put a potato through a 3/4 inch piece of plywood, and to top it off we shoot two golfballs at once out the barrel it it just so happened this is what the plywood looked like after TOTALLY unplanned
