Apexi AFC ?'s

Just got the afc in and am having a little trouble with it. I followed the vfaq procedure, and the afc does work. However, when i shut the car off and turn it back on, the settings are reset to factory defaults. When I bought the afc, it still had the previous owners tune on it. Do the afcs have batteries and memory to back up your tune? I could just hook up the power wire to a constant voltage ( i think its 12V) but then the afc would never shut off. Hope to get this figured out soon so I can get a tune.

Thanks,
Adam

Re: Apexi AFC ?'s

It sounds like an install error, double check your install and it should save everything even if you unhook it from power.

Install error, check which wires you tapped for power and ground.

These things do go bad, too. I had one in my 2G that appeared to be working but wouldn't do anything. I even had someone else re-install it to no avail. How old is it? Is it an AFC or S-AFC? Might try another unit & see if it helps. Double check all of your wiring, solder every connection, if you can.

Everything since the 5-knob has been called a S-AFC. Since its loosing memory its either a blinky-blue or a S-AFC2.

it is an safc 1 and i followed the vfaq install, and also double checked on several other pinout diagrams. It does save the settings every so often, which is very odd. I think the unit itself is bad. I'll call apexi and see if they can help.
