eclipse profiling

anyone else feel like they get profiled by the police when they cruise in the clipse? I have been pulled over 5 times in the last month and only gotten 1 ticket and that was a seat belt ticket. Every time its for some stupid reason if they give me one at all. I figure being all black would be stealth mode but far from it. my roommate says he got puled over in his all the time for reason.

I think its a conspiracy~

I've never been pulled over in mine. It's not the car.

When I did have my Chrystler running, I did have cops following me for abnormal amounts of time. It was frustrating. Never got pulled over though (when I wasn't breaking any laws).

You've got to be shittin me. Cops dont know shit about cars (in my experience), I doubt they could pick one out of a crowd. Yeah they'll harrass (spelling owns me) us from time to time but oh well, it comes with the territory. I was damn near stopped behind a car in a turn lane when I see a cop come around the corner, whip around behind me and pull me over for "doing 48 in a 30." I wasnt driving bad hell I dont think I was even going the speed limit before I start to stop. When I am tired I drive abnormally slow and it was right after a long Ultimate practice. Needless to say I didnt get shit but I have to believe the fact that my car is lowered, has 17's, and has no front plate had something to do with it. Same shit coming back to the cities two weekends ago. My buddy was going fast, like 90, on 94 coming into the cities. He has a radar detector and it didnt go off, but we see a cop in the other lane. He asks how fast we were going and my friend shrugs and says, "Gee officer I dont know, like 70?" the officer was like, "Oh, ok well I pulled you over today for no front plate blah blah blah... oh and watch your speeding next time." No ticket :).

Steve, you only drive yours once per year, how can that compare to those of us who DD ours? :D

Just wear your seatbelt and don't do anything stupid and you have nothing to worry about.

I have yet to put the front plate on my Evo, and after owning it about 6 months now there has only been one cop that has even looked at me weird, waited for me to leave McDonald's and followed me a couple of blocks.

Re: eclipse profiling

Good thread, Guys I have a little experince in this department. I grew up with a Cop for a father 25 years on the force and a criminal defence attorney for a mother, needless to say it was rough growing up and comming to my own building trucks and cars, dad would come out ask what I'm going, well dad adding some H.P or making the neighborhood shake everytime I come within a 2 block radius with a 2,000 watt amp and subs, Blagh, blagh, blagh, so here is the break down. Most cops are totaly unawear of what to look for its the regular police we see everyday in marked cars, it's the unmarked we need to be weary of in most cases they will break out the tape measure and do an inspection right their on the road cause these fella's know what to look for ride height no less that 22 inches from center of headlight to the ground, Tint 50% visablity a must, exhaust no louder than i think it is 70dbs, tires thread is a must, saftey equipment seat belts, even in cases they will match vin #'s from motor and cab. This has happened before and it will happen again question is will you be ready for it. All and all most little piggies dont care as long as your not causing mass road rage and you not flying in a 45mph zone and you doing better part of 90mph. Like all of you I have no front license plate hell its in the car in the winsheild still in the plastic bag which is Illegal, whip is lowered, tint, and to top off the special effects I have Vinlys all over my ride to make it stand out more like a sore thumb that you just resmashed in the car door HAHAHA, just stay cool know your roll and if you ever do get pulled over as much as this sucks show respect to the little piggie it can take you a long way and when he lets you go and you take off mumble BAD COP NO DOUGHNUT!!!

I used to drive mine 15K a year, no front plate. I've already driven it at least ten times this year. You must be thinking of last year.

With cams, a 5" tip, gold rims, and window tint?

No wait, that would be my car. I run a front plate though, don't drive like a dipshit, and don't really get bothered by the police when I drive the car on the street.

Aint that the truth. A lot of the reason my buddy sold his yellow one. Funny when you get singled out of a pack of cars going the same speed and the cop says you 'looked like you were going to fast'.

Huh, never had much of a problem with my Talon or any of the other sporty cars I've driven. Tint, no front plate, etc. Always had problems in my completely stock civic and my slightly modified one. Also had problems with any car I put bumper stickers on.

Re: eclipse profiling

I got pulled over not too long ago for having an air freshener hanging from my rear-view and a sticker on the little side window. So with that, I'm going to have to agree that they profile. Or they just like the red 1g... :sex2:

Re: eclipse profiling

I believe that cops do profile but not just against us DSMers, My buddy who owned a supercharged civic (sold a week ago), my buddy's super blue VW vr6 (looks like a matchbox car), and my black eclipse with chrome rims, the wing get followed all over minnetonka. I have quite a record but when I drive normal and obey all the laws it's like cops come out of the woodwork and follow, i've been followed for 20min at one time. The past 6 months I have drove very decent and obeying the law 98% of the time, but have been pulled over 3-4 times. I have a front license plate, no tint and still get pulled over for stuff like "suspicious activity" and going over the white line for a sec. In my mind that's BS. But whatever, cops are pigs.

Re: eclipse profiling

I was followed a few times. Was pulled over after stoping at the Holiday in Wayzata. Had my driver side apiler all apart. With the boost gauge just hanging there. No front plate. I remember one time I was followed all the way out to Excelsior another time was out past Maple Plain. That was in a 85 Le Baron GTS. I was not bothered alot. But eh...when I did get pulled over I was nice to the cops.
