Weird misfiring problem.

My car is a '92 gsx, mostly stock except for a small 16g, and a MBC. It first happened on saturday, and has happened one more time since. Both times it happened, I went to a store, and on the way there, everything was perfectly fine. When I went to leave, it was idling very rough, and when I went to drive away, it was running like it dropped a cyllinder. I drove for a couple blocks, and it didn't go away, and turned on the CEL, so I pulled into a parking lot to check if something had come loose or something, but everything was perfect. By the time I got back into my car, the CEL had gone out, and it was running normally. I looked everything over, and everything seems normal, so I have no idea what could be causing this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

have you look at my no starting problem.. I'm still trying to test the coil pack and power transistors looks like i might have to take it to a shop to find out what is really wrong.. MAP.. is not that far.. so I might just give them a call..

Your cars problems and mine could be related.. or similar issues.

Transistor pack, coil pack, plugs/wires.

Go outside(when its dark), Start your car and spray some amonya(SP?) water(or windex I believe) on the plug wires. Amonya water "helps" the plug wires arc. If you see arcing then replace the wires.

Just touch the wires while the car is running, if you get shocked you should replace the wires, a lot more fun then spraying some windex water at them.

Haha! I did that once, it scared the crap outta me.

They're brand new Accel wires, so I doubt that's the problem. I'll look into the coil pack/transistor pack.

bring it up and we well get it fixed

My car behaved exactly like this when the MAS plug had some corrosion on the pins. A little contact cleaner took care of the problem.

Ok, I've changed out the resistor pack and coil, checked the mas plug, and the problem is still there. I'm thinking my ecu is in the process of taking a shit. Does anybody know of any other things that could possibly be causing this?

No other suggestions as to what could be causing this? Recently the problem seems to be getting worse.

Sounds like an ecu to me.. They can cause a ton of issues..

Is the CEL still on? If so, what code did you get. Oh by the way just a side note. If you kept the orignal MBC when you bought the car. Make sure you recheck the way it was hooked up. I remember it having a hole in the brass connector or metal connector. The only reason I know is becuase I was talking to the owner and he was telling me how his car sucked at the track. I told him about the problem and I don't know if he fixed it or ignored what I was telling him.

It's supposed to have that.

Finally figured out what it was. It turns out that one of the injectors was bad. I threw the set of 450's from my Talon into it, and it cured the problem. So my guess is that once the injector got warm from the heat of the engine, it wouldn't start working once it had stopped.

strongly suggest that plugs/wire area...even injector too..

Maybe you missed it, but I just posted that I already figured out that it was a bad injector
