Wireless internet help!

Ok so in my house we have a wireless network set up with 5 computers hooked up to it. Im not sure about the other computers but when the main phone line rings the internet on my laptop disconnects. This laptop has a linksys card dealy to hook up to the internet. Its odd but it pisses me off. What can I do?

I don't know if I understand what your saying, but I would try changing the channel on the wireless router. You can choose between like 9 channels, and maybe it is causing interference on whichever channel you have it on.

It could also be a problem with the phone line itself. Do you have any computers connected directly to the router? I would see if it disconnects on a computer directly hooked up to the router. If it does, its a problem in the phone system itself.

Every computer is wireless. We have cable internet. I will see if I can change the channel.

to log in to the router it should be something like.

192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (something along those lines)

You need to be connected to the router via a ethernet cable to do it.

Default user and password should be admin and password.

Re: Wireless internet help!

Change your Cordless phone. If you have a 2.4Ghz? cordless phone then thats your problem. It disrupts the wireless 54g routers. My Linksys 54g router works with my cordless phone granted its a 2.4Ghz. I read online that the 5Ghz phones do not cause the problem. Also some routers come with a fix of it.

Changing the channel on the phones or the router will help too. Or then again deal with it. I bought the Linksys and that fixed my problem with my old wireless router. Hope this helps. Good luck

Oh and I have DSL.
