Surround Systems under $300
Just looking to see what people might have or have seen/heard that they might suggest for a small system, but quality enough to make watching a movie in a smaller living room more enjoyable.
We'd prefer something with wireless rears and some towers for the front, but open to almost anything. We've been looking from Circut City to Wal-Mart. |
Re: Surround Systems under $300
I had a pretty nice Philips 5.1 surround system from Wal-Mart in my bedroom in Duluth that sounded amazing. I don't remember exactly what it cost, but it was definitely under $300.

Re: Surround Systems under $300
Good luck finding wireless and towers for under $300. Make shure you get some thing with 5.1 or 7.1 and optical inputs from your DVD player etc. I would just buy the componets separate my self but you can get some desent systems if you do your homework.

Re: Surround Systems under $300

There is one right at the $300 mark that doesn't appear to be too bad. |
Re: Surround Systems under $300

Re: Surround Systems under $300
Here is a question then, what would people suggest for running wire and such to rear speakers?
I just don't see a clean option. I've know people to do everything from dry wall work to mount speaker terminals in the wall (which I don't know if I wan to even consider for our current house) to putting a slit in the carpet with a razor blade and tucking it in there and then hand stiching up the slit with matching yrarn or thread. |
Re: Surround Systems under $300
What I have done is bury it under the carpet or get a lot of wire "the good stuff" and bury it under the base boards around the room..

Re: Surround Systems under $300
I did all the surround wiring at my parents house and I hid it all behind wood trim work and by stuffing it between the baseboard wood trim and carpeting.
Allan, that one you have linked at NewEgg looks pretty good, but I'd try and find something with digital/optical inputs. |
Re: Surround Systems under $300
Tuck it under the molding where the carpet and wall molding meet. Maybe a long route but thats the easiest.
