i finally ordered an egt gauge. now i just need to know how to install it. i saw the vfaq but i still have one question. do i have to remove the manifold to drill the hole? its such a PITA to remove the stock manifolds. can i just drill teh hole with the car running so that it blows the shavings out?

Shane did mine back in the day. We did it with the car running to blow the shavings out. I would go slow to keep the shavings small. I dont think there is a great chance of the particles damaging the turbo even if they do go through.

sounds good. its a 14b anyway so not a big problem if it does get messed it up

I'd just remove the manifold. Or get a ported 2g manifold and install that already pre-tapped.
But the whole 'while car is running' thing works, or so I've heard. |
let the car sool down first, then you can drill most of it with the car off untill you start to brake though. then start the car

I did mine with the car off and the manifold on the car. Just go slowly and use tapping oil. That should keep the shavings stuck to the bit.
