Lack of oil Pressure

I did a search and didnt come across and similar posts so here it is, the car is a 1991 talon awd, engine was rebuilt a little under 2000 miles ago with the oil pump replaced. In the morning ill start it and it wont have any oil pressure, if you drive it, it will build oil pressure but if you come to a stop it starts to slowly drop back down to zero. It also isnt all the time it does this sometimes it will be perfect other times ill have zero. Any help is appreciated thanks!

Who rebuilt the motor? They should be able to help.
What are you using to gauge the oil pressure.

Does the oil light ever come on? The pressure sensor may be bad, and it is a different sensor than the switch that says there is no/low oil pressure.

Check your oil level. It is a DSM, no one goes to, but it goes.

most likly the sensor, on 2g's its a clip that falls off all the time.

Make sure there isn't a dent in the oil pan either. That is what killed the 2g in my garage right now.

no dents or anything, the oil is perfect i just did the oil change, maybe its a bad pressure sensor. the car still runs the same, i just didnt want the worst to happen if it was accurate...(reading the stock gauge)

Re: Lack of oil Pressure

Try cleaning off the contact for the oil pressure sensor. Mine did that when it got too much oil on it. I've even seen some that just simply read low. Find a good one and swap it out and see if it reads differently.

If I remember correctly, the oil light is from a different sensor, so if that is not going on you probably have a bad sensor.

1G's and 2G's have this exact same problem.
