Grinding noise when braking hard.

Like it says..
When I brake hard.. or back down an incline with the brakes on.
It grinds and I can feel it on the foot paddle like something is moving.. sounds like tranny.. parts.. thththssssshiiitttttsshhiiii...than it goes away..

The tranny is rebuilded.. new brakes and rotors..

what you guys think it could be..??

thank you,

Well if it only does it while braking You should probably pull off the wheels and see whats wrong.

Just cause the rotors and pads were done doesnt mean they were assembled properly.

Sounds like you may have a caliper bolt that fell out if it does it in reverse. It could be swinging out from the rotor and hitting the inside of the wheel.

I've seen/heard this happen after pads have been contaminated by CV axle grease (due to busted boots) and due to a frozen caliper slide(due to only one pad grabbing on rotor causing a loud grinding vibration. I would recomend you inspect the CV axle boots for this, and if this is ok, remove your caliper and relube the slides.

Yeah, thats useful information. I am sure he appreciates it. Its likely not rotors, if the pads and rotors are brand new, which you are saying they are, the cause is likely a caliper issue. Were the calipers rebuilt/replaced when the new brake hardware was installed? If not, as mentioned above, check the calipers for any loose bolts. Also, I know I have had grinding issues with frozen pistons before as well. Something to look at although it doesnt seem to be likely in this case.
