Injectors

I was jut wondering what would be beter, stock 1g injectors with my 16g, small mods, like intake etc, or some 660's but with my safc, I want to install my safc over christmas break but am not sure how to do it, even after i looked at vfaq, so just wondering what might be safer, im guessing the stock ones, but ya. Thanks for any advice

Re: Injectors

The vfaq tells you exactly how to install it. If you say what part you are confused about maybe we can help. As far as injectors. If you keep the boost way down you'd be fine with the stockers, but installing the bigger injectors isn't that tough, and sure wouldn't hurt.

Re: Injectors

AFC installs are pretty easy, just look at the diagrams carefully and take it slow. If you plan on going above ~15psi on that 16G you'll want to run a larger injector such as a 550. 660's are more than you'll need for a 16G, but if you have them laying around or can get them at a good price then they work. Do you have a turbo-back exhaust on your car?

Trust me, you will want bigger injectors eventually!

1g or 2g? Either will be fine up to 17 psi or so, if it is a 2g then you can go a bit higher.

Re: Injectors

sorry about the delay in responding, I have a 91 tsi, want to get it up to maybe 16 psi, i do know how to install injectors exept last time i got fuel in my eye. I have a catback system, the previous owner had it put on, im in college and dont know these cars are much as you guys, but am gonna keep it low profile and not go big big on anything, but as far as the safc goes, i apologize, but electrical isnt my thing, and i have looked at vfaq for a long time and get confued, but thanks, i might keep the injectors around in case, also, another question, can an oil leak be a result of having an intake put on without having an oil catch can?

Re: Injectors

First things first, when you go to install the injectors, be sure to relieve all the fuel pressure in the system before removal. You can unbolt one of the banjo bolts from the fuel filter for easy relief. Otherwise, if the fuel rail has a schrader valve, push that in, with a rag to cover of course, and relieve the pressure. I honestly dont recall if the DSM fuel rail has one or not, likely not. Then loosen the lines and bolts holding the fuel rail in place. Pull the rail, clips, etc. Pull the injectors and old o-rings, install your new o-rings and bolt it all back up. Have fun with the inj clips....

Re: Injectors

Just keep the stock injectors if you are only going to 16 psi, unless you already have the bigger injectors.
