Car for sale, but here's the spin...

Guy's got a 1998 Eclipse with a FMIC, and it's got a turbo. That i'm 100% sure of. What i'm not sure on, is the engine. I've seen the 420a motors and the starter on his block is on the back drivers side of the block. 420A's have in up front(as i remember) He's got a Honda intake manifold on the engine... but the set up from the top of the valve cover is the exact same as a 2.4l Chrysler motor. The tranny is mounted on the driver side, and he's got a TON of room in there. Which having seen the engine in the car in a chrysler, and a 420A motor in an eclipse... he's got plenty of room. His turbo sits about 5-6 inches out from the block, and he's got another 2-3 before he gets to the radiator.

My question to everyone here, do you either A.) Have pictures of a 420A block in a GS eclipse, or anyone have a 2.4 stroker motor, which in my mind is identical to the 4g63 since you swap heads on them.

Or B.)
Know if maybe this guy took a 2.4l N/A chrysler motor and dropped in a srt-4 set of of some sort? I'm gona be looking for some pics tonight, but i'm sure someone on here will have some awsome pics to compare.

Again to the admins, not trying to sell the car, but figure out wth it is before i start asking around if anyone wants it. The kid who bought it didn't do ANY research, and purchased the car as is without asking any questions. Loved the boost and burn outs and got sick of it breaking real fast.

Asking $5,000 for it, and it's semi negotiable.

Edit:

Pics found, huh...

But the intake manifold had a honda "H" formed into it, with a BOV fitted on there as well. Sounds like i've got myself a wonderful mix going on here.

This will be deleted fairly quickly I am sure :)

Re: Car for sale, but here's the spin...

i'm not posting it for sale for the record, i'm asking how it's all done.

I've deducted it's a 2.4l SRT-4 motor, or a N/A 2.4 that he's turbo. I'm asking for any pictures of a 2.4 stroker, or of anyone else who's done similar swaps to compare. Having trouble finding any search engine that can find the following:
SRT-4 motor in DSM, 2.4l DSM motor, or any combination of the words. Turned up the Neon motor that matches it, except this didn't have the writing on it, and didn't look ground down.

Besides, most of the time my dumb threads get deleted before someone has a chance to post in them.

The 2.4L strokers look exactly like a regular 4G63.

Ok, so this is for sure a 2.4l Chrysler motor with a manual transmision. Does anyone know if the 420A transmision bolts up? Or if he'd have the manual out of the donor car of the motor as well? I'm trying to get my facts straight for him, and for me to see if it's worth low balling him in a month or two.

So that SRT-4's engine is put into a 98 Eclipse? I don't get what your asking. I have a 420a eclipse that's turbo'ed so if your looking for a pic of the engine bay, lmk and i'll post one up.

It would be easier to tell if he used decent grammar and sentence formation.

This thread makes my head spin in such a way I can't tell if it's accurate to delete this thread or slam my dick in the tolient seat.

Your expectations are too high, come on.

Sorry, in class trying to get in posts in on breaks.

For those that are wondering, here's a better description for you.

I'm trying to figure out what i'm getting myself into with this car. It's got a 2.4l Chrysler motor of some sort in it, and i've seen the motor in a SRT-4 Neon and one other Chrysler cars, but it slips my mind at the moment as to what model.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a popular transplant or if this is something you won't run by very often. I"ve heard the SRT-4 tranny's are very strong, and i'm wondering if anyone knows if the 420A motor and the SRT-4 Motor share anything in comon. Trying to eliminate what engine, transmision and problems i could expect.

Also wondering if anyone knows why, or how he'd get a Honda intake on the car. And if there's a benefit i'm not aware of.

Thanks for reading all my other quick posts, back to class!

DSMStyle, read above, sorry about crappy grammar. I'll try not to let it happen again.

Do you put your dick in the front and slam it with your hands or stick it in from the inside and sit on it?

The 420a and SRT-4's engine don't share anything in common. There is a 2.4L swap though that some people have done with the 420a Eclipses. It's from a Stratus, Cirrus, Breeze.

Here is a pic of my engine bay:

Maybe i'm missing it... where are your oil feed lines?

Thank you for the picture, it's gota be a 2.4 SRT-4 swap the guy's done, that explains a few things. What turbo do you have on your car?

mdost03 12-13-2006 07:28 PM

Re: Car for sale, but here's the spin...

I had broken my new feed flange so the oil line wasn't hooked up while I was waiting for the new one. It's hanging in between the fans. And don't worry, I didn't run the car like that.

I've never heard of anyone doing a 2.4L SRT-4 swap on a 420a eclipse, it would take WAY too much fab work to make it worth it. Post a pic of the engine bay of the car so we can tell for sure.

I have a Garrett T3 turbo on my car.

Re: Car for sale, but here's the spin...

I'll try, i'll get a disposable camera for all the cars that stop in and he's supose to stop by sometime next week. He's not 100% a car guy, just wanted it for the boost. Got in over his head and looking for someone to take over what he owes still on the loan.

Was going to say, i don't even like the idea of just an oil cooled turbo, and to have no oil lines in there at all... :-P Looks like a clean bay though, i'll do my best to get some pics of the engine though.
