Oil Pressure Gauge?

So after I successfully installed my first tranny I was going through the reinstallation and hookup process. Well I started my car, the gauge on the cluster shows no Oil Pressure/Level? I checked and I have plenty of oil, I changed my oil, fixed my radiator hose leak blah blah blah. I hooked up my DSMlogger and it shows I have pressure. Shows in the "atm" unit. I'm not sure on the correct level but why is my oil gauge not working!? Anyone know what the DSMlogger should be reading for OILP - ?

Thanks!

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge?

There is a wire that connect to the oil filter housing that can fall off easily. Check to make sure it is still hooked up.

A black plastic clip that go's into another? About the size of a skinny mans finger? I checked, I'm pretty sure it was plugged in, I'm thinking it is something up top in the engine bay. I unplugged a bunch, I labeled tthe plugs but must've missed one. I'll check the housing and trace the wires tomorrow.
Thanks dude with Evo

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge?

The plug on the housing is a little rectangular black piece that slides over a button style connector on the oil filter housing.

If your logger shows pressure I am sure it is plugged in. I missed that the first time I posted.

True. How would my logger be showing but my Gauge not...?
Does anyone know how much pressure I should be showing. All measurements please

Ok I just went out and dinked around with the wires underneath by the wheel, all connected. I went thru my DSMlogger logs and I didn't get anymore than 28psi at 3k. I'm fuckin freakin out. Anyone know the stock PSi for these beasts? I'm averaging 8psi at 850rpm(idle) and about 27psi at 3k. I'm not driving this thing anymore...

Ya tell me about it, At idle... My Car has No Oil Pressure - According to the OEM gauge. I plan to hook up a aftermarket oil Pressure gauge to see where it sits at.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge?

What is the oil pressure suppose to be at for a 4G63? My 420a, when warmed up, sits at around 20-25 psi at idle, 50 cruising, and 70 WOT.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge?

Those oil pressure levels seem low.
I'll do some research tommorrow to see what spec is suspose to be, but at first glance your oil pump could be in the beginning stages of fatigue/age/wear.

Oil pressure is a funny thing isnt it?

The night that my oil pump decided to kill itself, I did a lot of reading on oil pressure. On 1g's anyway if I remember right, you are supposed to have atleast 11psi at idle but I dont remember what its supposed to be running. I do remember reading that it is ok for it to peg the 0-100PSI guage at WOT though. Your numbers do seem a tad low, but I dont think you are too low yet.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge?

My Pressure guage was all fine and dandy before I did my trans swap. Now its reading none. The cluster gauge never moves and my DSMlogger is what I'm having to read off of. I'm going to probably pick up a gauge today and hook that up.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge?

I fiddled with the wires on the bottom on the filter housing. Started my car up, oil pressure gauge works again. These cars are definetly down for pissing you off 1 minute and then giving you a boner from excitement the next. My o2 sensor is going to hell now so thats another thing I must fix now. These cars are a trip.
